success: career advancement
failure: ehhhh, not really one....unless you consider that I have not put down any roots anywhere since in order to advance my career I have had to move several times. I have a good idea where I want to end up and I think in another 5 years I will be putting down roots somewhere. 1/24/2009 11:40:09 PM |

Successes: Moving out on my own at the age of 18 from Buffalo to Charlotte, moving to Raleigh in 2002 and not knowing a soul in the area, two NCSU undergrad diplomas, paid research trips to Costa Rica, Brazil, and Africa as an undergrad, two successful research projects, being one of the only people from my small Indian reservation in western NY(born and raised) to go to college, a great job coming out of college helping to restore streams and wetlands throughout NC, proud father of two kittens and two snakes, continual learning/improvement of Spanish, learned enough Portuguese on my own to be able to get around Brazil, not having gotten someone unexpectedly pregnant by now (yay for Plan B!), not having picked up any diseases
Failures: The few times I tried to be an independent associate and was in sales, pretty much every emotional spat I got into on tdub during my undergrad, lol, most of my relationships (not complete failures but certainly not successes), getting a girl's name tattooed on my arm when I was 16 (since covered up), trying to breed venomous snakes, attempts at getting healthy/healthier
I just try to learn equally from things that have worked for me as well as things that have not. Personally, I think I've done a relatively good job at that since there hasn't been anything that I would classify as a major failure in my recent memory. 1/27/2009 2:24:42 PM |
