So Men's Wearhouse is having a 50% off sweaters sale.

Acceptable to wear in office setting (typically business casual but can sometimes need tie for meetings) over a button up collared shirt? Or is that too casual?

You mean like this? Because if it's good enough for Mr. Rogers, then it ought to be good enough for anyone dammit.

I don't wear them but they seem like acceptable Thursday or Friday attire

Mondays-Wednesdays I would try to class it up a bit

A nice half-zip can be good when you're trying to go out and look a little sharp but not go all out.

But IMO, they are not enough for business casual. And if you're going to do a dress shirt and a tie underneath, then I think the half-zip looks kinda silly...just need to go ahead and do the sweater (although I've seen it pulled off...I wouldn't recommend it).

So glad any clothing is acceptable where I work.

I probably save a few grand a year by not having to have separate wardrobes for office and street clothes.

If you're rocking a half-zip sweater, you better have some fierce chest hair poking out the top

Ha, I almost always wear a blazer if I have a tie on... it would be for the days where I can do business casual...

That's more like quarter zip, right?

I've got a few. I'm wearing a The North Face one today actually.

They're awesome for guys who aren't afraid to rock a down vest.

I guess I just always think of business casual as dress shirt and no tie....maybe dress shirt and a full sweater.

Half-zip sweaters have never made their way into my definition. And when I do wear half-zip sweaters, I can only wear them with a t-shirt underneath...which to me would take away from the business casual (but if you can pull it off with the dress shirt underneath, then more power to you).

i like half zip sweaters but i usually see them like jbrick said, with a tshirt underneath. i bet banana republic has some photos of men doing the business casual thing in half zip sweaters. they just seem like the kind of place that would advertise an outfit like that!!

i'd post a pic but i look fat / creepy as shit in the only one i have

and you cant really see the button up

but it's a gray lambswool quarter zip with green and navy argyle, white and navy stripes that are like gingham but really fat gingham, i dont know what the word for it is, the squares are like 1/4inx1/4in but 1/8" lines

i think it works

[Edited on January 22, 2009 at 3:18 PM. Reason : btw, argle + pattern seems weird at first, but you can rock it if done right]

i'm far too warm-blooded to wear a sweater all day

anything above 62-63 degrees and i gotta be in short sleeves
