Being a Raleigh native I get a lot of comments on my lack of a southern accent.

I do tend to put one on subconsciously when around people with heavy accents though

I've been to california, mass, etc.. and have seen people shocked how long i've been in NC due to my lack of accent. I have only ever heard from people in NYC that I have an accent at all. My girlfriend, who is NC born and raised, definitely has one that I can hear and her family was also shocked i've been here for so long because they said I "sound like everyone thinks they sound"

some of the people i know who are raleigh natives have the largest accents/draws of people I know. That isn't to say that they sound country (like those from hickory) because there is a definite difference.

No accent, unless I'm mad then you might hear a little bit of a southern accent. Thanks to all my boring TAs and teachers, I can do a fairly entertaining faux Russian accent.

I've had people guess I'm from just about everywhere, midwest, Buffalo, Germany, etc. Is entertaining.
