What do you guys think about this? I've been following this story for a while, as it happened right down the road from me...

B-Ball player thought he saw a BU student 'touching' his girl. Then proceeded to beat him down until he was in a coma. The B-Ball player was thrown in jail, and his passport was taken away, as he posed a flight risk. He was released from jail, and a diplomat basically just gave him another passport so he could go home. He then refused to return to the US to face a trial.

and here, he basically says that he will never return to the US to face charges. Also, he's not even 'in hiding' in Serbia, as he toured parliament not too long ago :

1) If he was a flight risk, why was he released from jail? He should have been kept in jail, or kept under surveillance till the trial.

2) Why was name not on the exit control list?

Recently, the victim came out of his coma. It's gotta be a big 'FUCK YOU' to wake up after a few months, only to learn that 1) your attacker fled the country and 2) has no plans to return.

I guess the latest news is that the Serbian govt. has no plans to return Kovacevic to the US. The US has laid down an ultimatum with a deadline of August 1st.

Kovacevic has also has plans to play for a Serbian national basketball team (I think he signed a contract). Further proof that he 1) has no plans to return to the US, 2) does not plan on facing any criminal charges in Serbia, and 3) has gotten off scott free
