i come from a family of cat loving men (my dad and brother)

they love dogs too....but are really most fond of siamese cats

my mother, however, hates anything that's alive

but she's such a nurturing person that she takes better care of animals than the rest of us do...even though she doesn't like them

no one truly likes cats

there are those that tolerate them and then those that hate them

i had siamese cats growing up (and my parents still do actually) and they were pretty awesome. One died when I was 18 and the cat was 20 I do also like dogs though.

My boyfriend likes cats, I prefer dogs.

He likes cats because they are lazy and evil. I say an animal is useless to me unless it can kill my enemies and any intruders.

I like cats. My sister has a mini-yorkie that won't quit barking. IT also shits all over the house. Cats are quiet for the most part and go catch moles that eat the grass. They are actually useful.

Good point, cats are way quieter. That's why i like cats, because they are a fine tuned predator. IT's like they are all special forces. I like how they kill rodents and then bring them back to the house and lay it on the door step.

I like dogs more, strictly because they match my personality better, but cats are just so bad ass.

That's not a dog, that's a rat.

A real dog doesn't crap in the house, no annoying yippy bark, and can be trained to not annoy the crap out of you. As a bonus, a real dog can easily be trained to alert you and corner any suspicious persons that enter their turf, until you tell them it's ok. I'm hoping I can get a police dog drop out as my next dog, like having your own bodyguard on a budget.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why i like dogs more. They still have "pack" ethics and loyalty.

I'm beginning to think cat men are lazy ass mofos, and like cats because they don't require much work.

they typically don't knowingly give lethal weapons to crazy people. plus you don't know german.

you can buy your own police dog for 10-20k.

Cats are very low ROI. They just require a low time investment, so appeal to lazy guys that don't want to put the time into a dog where you get a much better ROI as far as companionship and interaction and all that.

I only know one "cat man," and he is "that guy" who was always believed to be a closet homosexual (for reasons totally independent of his cat-loving)

I'm not making a judgment, just throwing that out there

They also make the house smell like shit. I don't care how clean you keep the place one can always tell if someone owns a cat when they walk into the place. Don't miss it. Plus the dust from the kitty litter always got to me.

Same could be said for dogs I suppose but the shit stays outside .

hey i like both, and im certainly not lazy..dogs require a lot more attention you are right, but it doesnt have much to do with lazy and more to do with the fact that they tie you down more. I am out of town 2-3 weekends a month for personal and band stuff and during the week I am only at home a couple of hours before I go to sleep with work, gym, sports, guitar, friends.

I have thought about getting a dog (I have no pets of my own at the moment) but I just dont have the time and dont feel like cutting any of it out to make time for a dog.

actually with good litter and a low speed exhaust fan in the laundry room, no smell or dust.

some people just don't know how to take care of cats.

Lollers. Guess who took German in college? Plus the dogs I want are probably gonna be Dutch. I could spend $10 to 20k for a fully trained dog, but I'd rather get a semi-green one and do the training myself. If i was gonna be lazy about it, I'd get a KNPV titled dog and then just spend a couple weeks working on details. For $20k, I'd expect a regional working champion of some sort. I know what dogs cost too much to get the wool pulled over my eyes and overcharged by some "personal protection" dog trainer.

^^^yea, as long as they arent going to the bathroom all over your house its fine. My parents have always just kept their cats' litter box with good litter and back in their own bathroom either with the window cracked and a small fan on or the bathroom exhaust fan and their house never smells of cat poop or piss ever really.

Same here, grad school sucks. I'm gonna have to start my own company so I can take the dog to work with me. Then I can write off the dog expenses as a business expense, since it'll be the mascot and guard dog.

The thing about having big cats like that as "domesticated" animals...
is that sometimes they maul you or your kids.

I knew a guy in high school whose parents owned a large cat of some sort which mauled him when he was younger. He now looks like Picasso drew him.

You're playing with fucking fire when you try to keep an animal like that as a pet.
