http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28875408/A 111 year old tuatara who use to attack other reptiles had a tumor on its genitals. They removed the tumor and it turned out to be what made him grumpy, and now at 111 he had some kids.I'm continually amazed at how long some animals live. There's a whale indigenous to the arctic circle that lives supposedly 300+ years, these lizards supposedly live 200+ years, and there are those turtles that live for hundreds of years too. What was god(s) thinking when us humans only got ~75 years of life? He/she must be a huge douchebag.

it's called negligible senescencebut don't even concern yourself with the life span of human beingsjust compare the infinity that existed prior to your birth and the infinity that will follow your death to the number of years you spent alive - in that comparison what does it matter if you lived to 18 or 80?

^ I had never heard that term used for age-ambiguous animals: http://www.epinions.com/content_4076773508And my/our age matters because we perceive and comprehend things at a specific rate (likely linked to our biology) and being able to have a longer time to perceive things is significant to our thoughts and psychology. I also believe we humans have the ability to outlast our solar system and galaxy if we play our cards right, and living longer could only aide in this goal.
