I installed SAS on my personal laptop through NCSU. Everything for the most part works fine, except when I try to run certain procedures like PROC REG or PROC GLM, I get the error "procedure REG not found" (which after doing some googling, says its part of the SAS/STAT part of SAS)...so how do I get that or to make it work? 2/4/2009 3:17:46 PM |

yes, you need to install sas/stat to run those procs contact your admin at ncsu to see if you can get it 2/4/2009 5:47:22 PM |

yeah, you need SAS/STAT for regression/GLM
if i'm not mistaken, it's part of the MLA we have with NCSU for 9.1.3
go grab a new setinit, it should enable SAS/STAT for you.

nope didnt work. apparently the sas licenses are out of date and they are waiting for new ones? The "sas guru's" (what they were calling them) at state recommended I wait til the new licenses come out and then reinstall, and until then im out of luck. but its a bitch to install b/c im using vista (different steps to install it than the easy normal stuff). tried to install v8.2 but again, licenses werent working...
good thing i have a test tomorrow in my sas class. 2/5/2009 7:42:50 PM |

oh, haha, yeah, i just saw the note about the expired licenses.
grace period is up too. i'm surprised you can even run SAS without getting the setinit expiration error.
if you'd like, i can check around tomorrow at work and see if anyone knows anything about when the ncsu licenses will be renewed.
you shouldn't have to reinstall, just load the new setinit (once you can get it) with the renew tool and you should be good to go.] 2/5/2009 7:44:51 PM |

thatd be useful. I dont really need these procs to work for my test tomorrow, but I am doing a lot of self teaching of SAS with a whole database of nba data I got and wanted to mess around with different aspects of it. 2/5/2009 7:46:49 PM |

^Well I have to buy a laptop by June cause that's when the Analytics program starts, so I can get 64-bit 9.2 Phase 1; when do you think state will have this for download? 3/27/2009 10:59:24 AM |

that's a good question
(heh, just checked, new setinit is up on their site)
they should have access to 9.2 now if they're willing to give it to you. ask someone in the stats department. the download website is still only offering 9.1.3.] 3/27/2009 11:01:54 AM |
