However, it does seem to be "cruel and unnusual".

I think the best sentence for violent criminals is life without parole.

I know If I was wrongly convicted and had my balls chopped off for no reason, I would become a very large burden for the state financially and possibly in terms of human life/limb.

i think there are some misconceptions in this thread.

chemical castration is done via oral doses of depo-provera and is reversible if the treatment is stopped. the theory is that since it lowers the amount of testosterone, sex drive is decreased. whether or not it works well in practice is another issue though.

Eugenics is a powerful tool that could do a hell of a lot of good, if anyone could figure out a fair, just, error-proof method of implementation.
