One in decent shape? With a halfway decent selection of cutting and plunging mills? And preferrably with a digital readout.
Of course beggars can't be choosers, but I sure would like to know where I could buy a little time on one of these machines. 2/6/2009 1:52:45 PM |

$100/mo and still not open yet.
Have you used the one out west Noen? Is it just for hobbyists? Will they run you out of there if you start showing up 8-5 every day? Are there bullshit certification courses for every damn machine? 2/6/2009 4:54:36 PM |

^ they are not open yet, still trying to get /charter/ members and folks to lend them $$$ in exchange for loan repayment and a lifetime membership. Still trying to buy equipment as well.
And ZX, the best way to get access to one is often to take a machine shop class at most community colleges. The night classes have 'lab time', often you can talk to the professors or techs who teach the class, and pay the class fee and just do personal work vs the continuing ed instructional work. 2/6/2009 4:56:08 PM |

^^nope I haven't. For high demand equipment you have to reserve time to use it, but there are no restrictions to the amount of time you spend in there in a week/month/year. The intentionally severely limit membership just for that reason 2/6/2009 7:10:30 PM |

^zx, I can point you to a guy who sells really good milling bits, ill holler at my buddy to get the info if you are interested. They are a little cheaper than the mass-manufacture stuff, and a HELL of a lot higher tolerance and more durable. 2/7/2009 4:37:32 PM |
