1) Is there a technical term for like that shit when a cyclical thing is going so fast that you start to see it going backwards because of the refresh rate of your vision
2) Why is the number e so prevalent in our scientific studies is it a fundamental flaw in our number system or something more complex?

This has been a big business presentation.

#2 is much more perplexing to me. Okay i can accept pi and the golden number, but why do so many things have that exponential/logrithmic feel with a base of 2.78blahblahblah or whatever it is. It seems in nature many plants use ratios that approximate e to get certain types of overlaying symmetry. For Example, certain flowers use it to overlap petals to get maximum sunlight. Shit bothers me.

There are exactly two functions from the reals to the reals which are their own derivatives. One of them is the trivial function f(x)=0. The other is f(x)=e^x. That is basically the single reason why e is so important. It has nothing to do with our number system; if we worked in base 12 we would express e differently, but it would still be the same number.

shit, multiples of e^x are also their own derivatives

yeah bitches its 11pm on a friday and all i can do is answer math questions on TWW

Answer to #1. Temporal Aliasing. Basically, aliasing changes the apparent frequency of rotation.

yeah i know theres that 0=1+e^(pi*i) equation or whatever that has all the important constants and mathematical operations and nothing else. can't remember how it was derived or what it means though

I personally like to get drunk and wonder what the square root of -1, the ratio of circumference/diameter of a circle, and e have to do with each other, and how the hell Euler figured it out.

For 0=1+e^(pi*i), all you gotta do is check out the power series for e^x, sin(x), and cos(x). Plug in e^(ix) and you get cos(x)+i sin(x), and you get the equation from that.

Long story short, shit in our universe is round.

e is closely tied to sin and cos. You can represent sin or cos as variations of e^iphi

as much as I like math, I've never really understood the real-imaginary coordinate system. I can fake my way through it, but when it gets down to the fundamentals of what it really means i'm all ed out

to get her to switch directions i have to close my eyes and picture her spinning the other way and open my eyes while picturing it. it's weird.

I have to focus on the foot. Gotta picture how the foot would be moving if she were spinning in clockwise/counter-clockwise direction. Whenever I first look at the body, I usually see clockwise.
