I have an ActiveSync server relationship set up with mail2web for free push email at the moment

I sync to Google using OggSync every 4 hours for calendar and contacts

I'd like to start using Google's Sync tool that pushes updates through an exchange server

How can I do that without losing my email relationship?

when you create a new activesync connection to exchange, i'm fairly certain it deletes all of your contacts and whatnot from your previous connection.

i.e. you can't have more than one exchange connection.

i know this is true on the iphone, and from what i can remember, it's true on WM too.

you can only have 1 exchange relationship

dont forget that when you first set this up you lose your contacts on your phone

another thing i noticed, contact syncing is apparently only one direction

I did the google sync on my iphone and only lost a couple of names (kept the numbers).

iTunes lets you sync your contacts with your google contacts, which google tells you to do before you enable sync, so you should get most of those contacts back when it's enabled.

ok so mail2web is going to start charging for their activesync services - need to find another exchange provider

i don't mind paying if it's relatively inexpensive - got any in mind?

and is it possible for the exchange server to get calendar and contact data from another exchange server (google's) and then provide it all to me in one exchange relationship?

yah seems to list just calendar and contacts there too, which i could just do directly from google sync anyways

frikkin google needs to hurry up and add mail to this google sync and then i'll gladly pay for their services

in case anyone cares, i've solved my dilemma

for calendar and contacts sync, i'm using google's mobile sync (custom activesync solution)
for mail, i am using IMAP-idle with http://www.codeplex.com/ImapPusherService - IMAP idle is almost as good as, if not better than, push email thru active sync

pocket outlook doesn't support IMAP-idle so i had to install this little pusher service on the phone to basically tell pocket outlook when to check IMAP. there are 3rd party mail apps like flexmail that support imap-idle but they're all bulky and lack the integration with the OS that pocket outlook has.

and doing it this way rather than using mail2web allows me to take advantage of the HTML viewing capabilities of pocket outlook.

the contacts and calendar sync are nearly flawless and fast as well. i'm happy for now.

fuck actually that is killing my battery a lot quicker

anyone use FlexMail? that may be my only option but i hear it takes up a lot of resources and stuff

i accidentally forgot i had it set to check for new mail every 0 minutes which i guess meant all the time haha

so that would account for the battery drain - going to install this thing and try again.

imap idle works beautifully on it and it's not as big of a drain as i expected from reading these reviews.

system integration is not ideal but if it works, it works...what can ya say...

fuck my life.... why is this so hard

i am so inclined to just get a blackberry instead now but i don't know if gcal and rtm tasks and gcontacts will sync with it just yet.

so flexmail integration BLOWS hard and i went back to pocket outlook checking every 30 minutes.
that kills a full charged battery in 6 hours. so if i want the battery to last 24 hours, i have to check every 2 hours.

i mean, i'm never away from a power source for more than 6 hours but still...why the fuck aren't more people having this issue and finding a solution for it

woot the SEVEN beta passed the battery drain test - works like a charm!

i wish it had more customizable options but maybe when it's out of beta, it will.

i use SEVEN for email push from gmail and Google's Sync to do calendar and contacts and MilkSync from RTM to sync tasks

all set

i hope Google Sync's solution offers email in the future and the option to sync more than just one calendar.
