I swear you can have a 2 hour long conversation with a chick saying nothing but "yeah", "uh huh", "sure", "yep", "definitly". While in reality not paying attention to a single thing being said why they blab about themselves, their friends, or whatever else is going on.

once you've talked to them for long enough, you learn when you can put the phone down, go get the mail, come back in, and when you pick the phone back up, they're still talking.

This is so old Alexander Graham Bell made a thread about it.

I've found it's important to throw in a comment that makes them think you've been listening the whole time. I zone out and quit listening for a while and then zone back in just long enough to catch a little important info...So the "yeah" and "uh huh" are accompanied by something meaningful where they think I've been paying attention.

2/11/2009 10:33:39 PM
i don't deal with that shit. i also don't like talking on the phone. but girls know (usually) when you aren't paying attention. at least i know.
2/11/2009 10:33:40 PM
actually i usually just tell them to talk their drama bullshit to their female friends.
2/11/2009 10:35:01 PM
I just put them on speakerphone and say "oh yeah" every few min
2/11/2009 10:36:08 PM
if someone ever did that to me i would quickly find someone to pay attention to meif you know what i mean
2/11/2009 10:37:16 PM

I prefer to talk to girls in person. That's why you don't spend more than a few minutes on the phone with them at a time from day 1. that's how I've been doing it for a long time and several of my friends have relationships that function similarly. Just call them, make a minute or two of small talk, then set up the next time you are going to see them. If you set the pattern from the beginning and remain respectful (making sure they realize that you do like talking to them, just not on the phone a whole lot) then you won't have a problem with the electronic leash.
