So I pissed a guy off at the store tonight when he tried to buy a 6 pack of Wood Chuck that had 2 Amber Apple, 1 Pear, and 3 Green Apple Ciders in it. I took it back and put everything in its correct 6 pack. Women seem to like to do this with wine coolers. Why not just buy both 4 packs? It's annoying when I have to try to put everything back in its correct place. If you want a variety pack then buy the Mikes Hard, or Samuel Adam's cases.

I was looking to buy a 4 pack of Delirium Tremens at Peace St. Market the other night... what I found was a 4 pack with 2 Delirium Tremens and 2 Delirium Nocturnums. I was cool with it and bought it. Easy way to try both kinds. Nocturnum FTW I thought.

I put the pear cider back in its 6 pack and put the green apple back in its 6 pack. Then I offered to give it to him anyway since there was no amber cider on the shelf even though there were 2 bottles in there. He wasn't the person who mixed it up, but I wasn't about to mess up a shelf of 6 packs. He was pretty pissed off.

6-12 lets you mix beers however you want. They just re-label any leftover single beers with no markup
(Most places add 10% or so for single beers. 6-12 adds nothing)

I frequent places that let you do this.... They deserve more business.
I mean, I guess I can understand why places wouldn't want to do this, but screw 'em.
As long as a few places do allow it, they're gonna get all my business -- and I'll recommend them to others.

Yeah, returning incomplete or mixed packs to the cooler isn't good.
That's why you have one cooler area for new 6-packs and 4-packs, and another for all leftover singles.
(You do the mixing at the counter, and leave the leftovers there to be re-labeled and re-stocked.)

World Market, Fresh Market, and pretty much every wine store will sell you mixed packs. They just have the beers on the shelf and plain carts that you can put them in. It is incredibly rude to think you can just walk into a gas station or regular grocery store and do it.

Total Wine has a "make your own 6 pack," but it's not any cheaper. Each bottle is more expensive than it would be if purchased in the full 6 pack.

^^ Yeah, it's good if you're buying a gift though. I did that for a friend last Christmas. It was worth the extra money to not have to buy 36 bottles of beer I was unlikely to drink myself.
