So I pissed a guy off at the store tonight when he tried to buy a 6 pack of Wood Chuck that had 2 Amber Apple, 1 Pear, and 3 Green Apple Ciders in it. I took it back and put everything in its correct 6 pack. Women seem to like to do this with wine coolers. Why not just buy both 4 packs? It's annoying when I have to try to put everything back in its correct place. If you want a variety pack then buy the Mikes Hard, or Samuel Adam's cases.

6 12 mixed 6 packs ftw
2/16/2009 1:04:53 AM
can't you do that shit at trader joes?
2/16/2009 1:04:57 AM
ya i don't like people who do this. it comes in a pack its not mix and match. you don't open up 2 pairs of socks to mix in match the colors you want.

I was looking to buy a 4 pack of Delirium Tremens at Peace St. Market the other night... what I found was a 4 pack with 2 Delirium Tremens and 2 Delirium Nocturnums. I was cool with it and bought it. Easy way to try both kinds. Nocturnum FTW I thought.[Edited on February 16, 2009 at 1:09 AM. Reason : It would suck if you bought something like that and didn't notice the mixup...]

when i turned 21 i wanted to try out a bunch of different types of beer and went to 6 12. they dont mark it up to mix it up and i found out what i like. no reason to waste money on beer you dont know if you will like.
2/16/2009 1:08:58 AM
depends on the store. grocery store, no. liquor/beer store, then its more ok, not completely kosher, but ok at least
2/16/2009 1:11:16 AM
No, but i might try it only if it's at a self checkout so i can swap some without somebody getting mad. But I hardly ever buy anything less than 12 or cases

I put the pear cider back in its 6 pack and put the green apple back in its 6 pack. Then I offered to give it to him anyway since there was no amber cider on the shelf even though there were 2 bottles in there. He wasn't the person who mixed it up, but I wasn't about to mess up a shelf of 6 packs. He was pretty pissed off.
2/16/2009 1:12:24 AM
only if the store says its ok. Its not fun nor ok when you get home with your 6 pack and find that 2 beers aren't even the ones you want.
2/16/2009 1:13:13 AM
do you think they have half and quarter stock items in their inventory system? Yeah me either.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.
2/16/2009 1:13:29 AM
^^We used to have a sign that said no mixing. It's been gone for a while now.

6-12 lets you mix beers however you want. They just re-label any leftover single beers with no markup(Most places add 10% or so for single beers. 6-12 adds nothing)I frequent places that let you do this.... They deserve more business.I mean, I guess I can understand why places wouldn't want to do this, but screw 'em.As long as a few places do allow it, they're gonna get all my business -- and I'll recommend them to others.
2/16/2009 2:21:17 AM
the difference here is environment. when i run in the grocery store to grab a six pack, i expect it to contain a uniform product in the correctly labelled carton. I don't want to have to check my beer every fucking time to make sure some bozo hasnt slipped me a mickey.
2/16/2009 2:27:56 AM
^Yeah, returning incomplete or mixed packs to the cooler isn't good. That's why you have one cooler area for new 6-packs and 4-packs, and another for all leftover singles.(You do the mixing at the counter, and leave the leftovers there to be re-labeled and re-stocked.)
2/16/2009 2:34:41 AM
World Market, Fresh Market, and pretty much every wine store will sell you mixed packs. They just have the beers on the shelf and plain carts that you can put them in. It is incredibly rude to think you can just walk into a gas station or regular grocery store and do it.
2/16/2009 8:29:54 AM
I love Woodchuck! What was the guy doing buying girly drinks? LOLS
2/16/2009 8:33:47 AM
whatever douche tries this in a regular grocery store or gas station needs to just keep on going to trader joe's
2/16/2009 9:51:27 AM
2/16/2009 11:31:16 AM
people are stupid
2/16/2009 11:40:48 AM
2/16/2009 11:44:20 AM
this is definitely a dick move at food lion
2/16/2009 11:47:30 AM
trader joe's and total wine let you do this but i mean, if it isn't a place that normally lets you do it, then i wouldn't do it.
2/16/2009 2:09:13 PM
we have ingles up here and they have the $8.99 custom 6 packit's pretty awesome
2/16/2009 2:24:29 PM
are you people that fucking impatient that you can't buy a six of one beer this week and a six of another beer the next?jesus christ. i bet you only order the breakfast sampler at IHOP.
2/16/2009 2:28:20 PM
so why did you capitalize most of the words in the thread title?
2/16/2009 2:30:35 PM
i don't get what is wrong with making your own at like, total wine or something. if you want to try new beers, it seems like a good idea to only purchase 1 of each incase you don't LIKE them, ya know?
2/16/2009 2:31:03 PM
i guess to try them out it's ok, but trying to do this at harris teeter is moronic. especially if it's just because you want several over your favs vs. trying new ones out.
2/16/2009 2:41:02 PM
I've only bought a mixed pack when someone else has already done it before me. If I see one that's like 3 this and 3 that already in the cooler, sometimes I'll grab it.
2/16/2009 2:45:25 PM
2/16/2009 2:49:24 PM
maybe some people like to call people like that impatient douchebags, motherfucker
2/16/2009 2:59:01 PM
i like to rip open bags of m&ms and mix and matchcause sometimes i want the almond ones, sometimes i want the peanut butter ones, and sometimes i want the plain onesbut i never want a whole bag of any of themyou people
2/16/2009 3:01:10 PM
i really don't see why some of you people are so up in arms about mixing a six pack at stores that ALLOW you to do it. No one is saying its ok to do it in like a HT or Food Dog, where it might screw someone else over. Don't be douchenozzles and bitch about people's personal preferences when they don't affect you at all.
2/16/2009 3:07:29 PM
thats what i said jackass, read my other post
2/16/2009 3:10:46 PM
i do this at every place that sells what i'm looking for...whether they want me to, or notno one has ever told me i couldn't...they've never even mentioned it beforegranted, i've only done it a dozen times or so
2/16/2009 3:23:31 PM
of course i'm not talking shit about doing it where its allowedi'm talking shit about folks like this ^if you can't get the difference, thats on you
2/16/2009 3:25:58 PM
2/16/2009 3:30:17 PM
had i known it annoyed people this badly, i'd probably have done it more oftenwhen they post signs saying i can't, then i won't...and while they might do that NOW, i never saw them back in the day when i used to do it*shrug*...so many of you are just whiny bitches [Edited on February 16, 2009 at 3:37 PM. Reason : .]
2/16/2009 3:36:53 PM
I think that wine place at crossroads lets you do this as well with their beer selection.
2/16/2009 3:41:13 PM
There shouldn't have to be signs telling you not to do it at a grocery store. They are packaged together, priced as a unit ... do you also think it's OK to go grab six different sodas for your 6-pack? What if I want half a loaf of white bread and half a loaf of wheat bread? Can I just mix those? Nobody told me not to, so I guess so ...
2/16/2009 4:09:43 PM
i put 6 expensive Imperial IPAs in a sixpack of Pabst, then go through the self-checkout.

2/17/2009 6:51:00 AM
^^ Yeah, it's good if you're buying a gift though. I did that for a friend last Christmas. It was worth the extra money to not have to buy 36 bottles of beer I was unlikely to drink myself.
