Because I'm not very good at ironing my dress shirts, where should I go locally to get them pressed for cheap? They don't need to be dry cleaned, they are clean, just wrinkly.

do you realize that dry cleaners are hazardous waste producers? i'm not saying this for the environmental reasons so much as noting that you end up wearing hazardous waste

shirts tend to be laundered and pressed unless you specifically ask for dry cleaning

^ correct.

i have all my shirts laundered and pressed. it saves a TON of time and is very economical.

also most, if not all, of the solvents used evaporate. if your clothes smell like solvents after you get them back, then they didn't do it right.

I go to the place at Avent Ferry and Gorman. It is about $1.70 per shirt to have them laundered and pressed...well worth the time since I hate doing that myself....

seriously, just learn to iron. it's a good skill to have. or if they're not TOO wrinkled, after you wash them let them hang dry, then throw them in the dryer for 10mins with a damp wash cloth. Works for me.

why is ironing a good skill to have? seriously...at what point in your life did ironing change the course of events?

unless you're the kind of person who can't count on themselves to have clean and pressed shirts ready when needed, not ironing for an hour is worth the 10 bucks I pay someone else to do it

All my shirts are wrinkle free, but I do occasionally starch and iron just to keep the collars in good shape. Ironing sucks really bad, but it's pretty damned easy. Just to it one section at a time and you almost can't fuck up on a shirt.

well, to be fair, that comment was coming from a female.

it's a vital skill... for her.

I was under the impression that for regular dress shirts, they don't actually dry clean them, they just launder and press them, but everyone just refers to it colloquially as "dry cleaning"

thus no chemicals.
