Obama Off to a Bad Start, Republicans Say
Republican's Questions Obamas Housing Plan

The Republicans have had eight years to fuck things up, and they haven't given the Obama a month to try and sort things out. STFU! You are starting to look like spoilers and whiners- using obstructionism instead of trying to solve problems.

It is almost their job to oppose the democrats. I can't really blame them.

You make an excellent point, because the democrats were best friends with the republican party during Bush's terms.

Bush sucked, guys.

He sucked like a motherfucker.

So you can't criticize the Dems for not cooperating fully with that guy. If anything, they cooperated too much.

^ yeah but Obama is spending trillions of dollars that do not exist in his first month of presidency which got voted into law distinctly because Dems are majority house/senate.. what 3 GOPs voted for this package? That deserves a bit of scrutiny, wouldn't you agree?

^^Sure. But you gotta keep it elevated. Here's how it's been going so far:

R: Obama's screwing up!
D: Give him a chance!
R: But you didn't give Bush a chance!
D: Yes, we did, and besides, Bush sucked!

After "Give him a chance!" you gotta come with something smart and meaningful.

"But you didn't give Bush a chance!" is lazy.

^AHAHA I love you.

I think there are two salient points that need to be made:

First, if the Republicans become truly bi-partisan then Obama will have won - he will have delivered on the "change" he promised. The Republicans can't have that.

Second, Republicans would appear more credible if they acutally gave the guy a chance to do something before saying, "see, it didn't work."

The line "the last eight years of failed economic policy" is funny, no one was complaining when they were making money Bush's first 6 years, and when the democrats took over the last couple of years they didnt change the "failed economic policies"

Just so I understand the original post: Prior failure means that those complicit in it are not allowed to have a say any more.

By this standard, everyone ever needs to keep their mouths closed.

i honestly didn't think republicans would act like the democrats did during bush, but now they are just worse. Nothing has even happened yet in the Obama administration and people are reacting like the sky has fallen (including most of the republicans up here).

The Republicans are supposed to be the party of financial responsibility. As long as they're criticizing government spending, all is right with the world again.

Not True....They had 8 years in the White House, but not in the legislative branch of government.

Obama has had several appointments resign for various reasons...its happened to other presidents in the past....in the past it was deemed a bad start....it will be deemed a bad start this time.

Couple that with a stimulus bill that was taylored specifically around Democratic party ideals forced through congress without anyone actually reading the bill and I can see why Republicans have a right to argue. If you cant, your an idiot.

Exactly. Bush was elected on this principle. He went way off course and grew government. They are trying to return the party to its core conservative platforms.

thank you bigun20 how very astute of you to notice.

yes, let's not forget that the Repubs only had the first 6 of those 8 years in control of the entire government.

and everything was going along swimmingly, i might add.

because, you see, it wasn't until the Dems took back Congress in 2006 that we started torturing people, that we lost the hearts and minds of the Iraqis, and that our country's entire economy went to hell.

The Bush Administration is blameless. our current woes are clearly the democrats' fault.

Remind me what the Democrats did to stop that in those two years. Oh, not much?

Well what about Obama, now? Well, let's see - re-asserting State Secrets doctrine to squash lawsuits over indefinite detentions, extraordinary rendition, and the Terrorist Surveillance Program.

Oh, well, but he closed Gitmo, right? Except for the fact that now he's pretty much advocating putting in a system where we detain prisoners without access to civilian courts, no military tribunals, and pretty much no way to challenge their detention status.

Huh. Wonder if we've been down that road before...

I'm an independent, not a Republican, but Obama has done more damage to our economy in less than a month than the Republicans did in eight years, especially considering that the stage was set for a lot of the economic woes we have during the Clinton years. When the real cost of this spending bill starts becoming apparent, Obama will look like more of a joke than Jimmy Carter.

May or may not be true, honestly nobody knows for sure. It may help in the next few years, but hurt us in the run, it may not help us and hurt us in the long run, it may help us and not hurt us later. Hell, who knows, there is no consensus among economists or anyone else.

Honestly, the Republicans had 6 years of full control to be the fiscal responsible party that they claimed to be (and were in the 90's). Bush changed the Republican party into a spending party just like the Dems.

Obama and the Democrats have used the crisis and stimulus plan to fund programs that probably wouldn't have been funded otherwise in the name of "stimulus" though, and the media has pretty much not said a word, or just follow the party line in criticizing any criticism of the Stimulus Bill.

The CNBC guy's rant typifies the silliness that has become standard for Obama-haters; laughably simplistic appeals to ideology.

"RAWR RAWR RAWR CAPITALISM > SOCIALISM."

As if they weren't socialists, either, using their overly-broad definition. It's pathetic, trying to make a mountain out of the molehill's difference between their economic views.

In their mind impractical capitalistic ideals >>>> democratic mixed society
