And of course, that worthless dog doesn't start barking until the sheriff's deputy is leaving.

If someone tried to break in my spot, I'd let them come and set fire to their ass as soon as both feet are planted inside.

As soon as I have the cash, I'll be getting a gun or three.

Not because of this, though. I just like shooting

I was, a little. Now my body's coming down from that 'oh, SHIT!' rush, and I feel like crap, but I'm fine. Dinner (5+hrs ago) isn't where it should be, though.

Mixed blessing: I won't be here tonight. Sheriff's dept knows.

Neighbor's house was broken into ...~2months ago. There's an itty bitty ghetto (like, 5 houses) at the end of the street. They said they'll keep an eye on the neighborhood tonight.

But just in case, I locked my kitty in the bathroom, with some food and water. Most people don't go looking in the bathroom for highly portable valuables

oddly enough, I never worried about anyone breaking in when I lived in an apartment, but I found that ever since we started living in a house, it's something that's been a concern of mine. I've thought about owning a gun, or even something as simple as a baseball bat (I wasnt raised with guns, so i probably wouldn't end up getting one). I realized I dont have a phone upstairs, too. Just little things. I don't know why it all of the sudden creeped up on me.

A hammer and a bat is all you need. Throw the hammer, and follow up with homerun swing.

and typically, houses have more possible entry points than an apartment does.

And less of a chance of someone seeing them breaking in, or hearing the noise, especially houses on the end of a row, since it only neighbors one house.

I actually would feel kinda bad for anyone who broke in here. No tv or anything worth anything out in the living room, barring some of my old computers in a pile with parts stripped out. And if they ever got into the bedroom it would go.... poorly.

Kevin's working nights right now and I nearly shit myself last night trying to sleep. I kept hearing weird pots falling type noises. But we have so many damn pets who knows what it was.

Definitely get renter's insurance. That saved my ass when my apartment was broken into.

They reimbursed me about $3000...no questions asked. Just needed to give them a police report.

All I got to say if someone breaks in my spot while I am here, someone will have to be carried out of here, quite possibly wearing a toe tag.

back when i lived on brent rd, we basically never locked any of the doors. would sometime come home from class, no one would be there...or it would just be one of the roommates' friends there. nothing ever got stolen until my bday party when someone stole my nevermind cd.

doesn't mean im that careless now. got too many easy-to-carry-away valuables.

how much does renter's insurance end up costing per month?

I got 12k worth for like 90/yr or something like that. And 100k in damage, like if you cause a fire or something. And cover your shit unconditionally, except for natural flooding.

^ I can do security if shit gets to tight with this economy.

my renter's insurance through allstate costs less than $20 a month.

everything is covered inside of my house, for whatever reason.
also, if a house guest has an accident in my house, they can legally sue the fuck out of me. I'm covered on that as well...

Yeah, I am covered from other people as well. Mine works out to be 14/month for in 9 payments, or something like that. I got mine through Geico.

That's sketchy. It takes a lot of balls or a lot of stupidity to try to break in while people are there. I always wonder what is going through those people's minds.

I live in Garner.

Renter's insurance is awesome, and cheap. You're an idiot to not have it. Just before I left, mom suggested that I take pictures of the valuable things, and so I did.

They may very well have thought the house was empty. I didn't leave the house at all yesterday, and only once today, to run. I've been doing 6 weeks' worth of schoolwork the past two days There were three papers at the end of the driveway. If they cased the place during the day today, they probably saw the office light tonight, and figured they just couldn't see it during the day.

My desk has a slide-out armrest that squeals terribly if it's pushed back in at the wrong angle, and when my chair hit it as I spun around when I heard them trying to get in, the noise stopped. (The noise being the deadbolt catching in the frame.)

Despite my body initiating the fight or flight response, I actually wasn't scared. I was pissed and annoyed. If they'd gotten in the house, they'd have seen a sight that would make them regret choosing my place, since I was about to get dressed.

Lacey, if you wanna pay me to stay, I will. It's not like I have much to do these days
