Because all it honestly takes it doing a few pull-ups a day and you'll look just like the guy on the commercial. Don't worry about changing your lifestyle or eating habits.

I'm looking to lose weight right now.

I've read some reviews on it. It seems to do fine hanging on the door frame.

my sis got me one for xmas, I'm just under 200lbs and it holds me just fine, I use it quite often to just overcome boredom, it's left some black prints around the frame but I can likely just magic erase them away when I move out
it does bend in the middle if you do close grip/neutral grip stuff, I'll also hang upside on it and do ninja pull-ups...hasn't slipped on me, yet. 2/19/2009 1:11:58 PM |

i've got one. it's pretty stable and it looks like most of the weight gets applied to the door frame so that it presses against the wall - not so that it would pull the trim off. worth $30 IMO. 2/20/2009 12:14:03 AM |

i wouldnt do any upside down exercises, its not that stable. if it falls on pullups you land on your knees not your head. plus the swinging motion of sit ups would make it less stable than just the downward force of pullups 3/20/2009 10:49:46 PM |

I love mine. I live in an older apartment and I use the little support piece that comes with it to help transfer a small amount of the load off the door frame. It's a little metal tab, also helps if you're upside down on it and think it might slip. I got mine today. I can't do any pullups or chinups on it. I'm weak. I can't pull myself up. I can at least do the situps and pushups til I get stronger.

finally picked one of these up and yeah it works great. as someone said, the long cross bar cinches itself to the opposite side of the door where the hanging part is, so all the weight isn't distributed on the moulding. the dips they show are kind of a joke though 5/26/2009 1:05:06 PM |

I recommend giving yourself a little bit of a jump so that you are at the top of the pullup position and then slowly let yourself down (as slow as you possibly can)
do that a couple of times a day, pushups and situps are a good start but I think doing negatives as described above will get you closer to an actual pullup in less time5/26/2009 1:13:51 PM |

^also you could have a chair under it and rest one foot on the chair so that if you're arms can't handle all the weight, you can still go through the motions with as much weight as you can through your arms and pushing a bit with your leg for the rest
just be sure to use as little help as possible or you won't be gaining much arms-wise
