I am trying to install one fucking application over a slow ass remote desktop link and have spent 15 minutes realizing that:
1. It wants me to add the URL of the mirror for the download to the trusted sites zone before it will allow it to proceed
2. The URL of the mirror changes every fucking time I click the link
3. There's no easily located option to disable this shit
Ironically, the URL is the download URL for Firefox.
Microsoft, please die in a fucking fire.
Microsoft fan boys that think I give a fuck that they know where the option to disable this is hidden, do not bother posting, you have missed the point of the thread, please jump into the previously mentioned fire. 2/21/2009 4:24:20 PM |

My anger subsided when I located the Firefox installer on a network share, but yes I was quite upset 2/21/2009 5:30:20 PM |

^^dont do that.
Just turn off IE ESC. Get your app, turn it back on (or not).
Server Manager -> Summary -> Configure IE ESC -> Off.
Just because you don't understand the system you work with, doesn't make it a bad system. People don't bitch and moan about learning linux, they just fucking learn it before trying to do something. Yet somehow nothing in Windows should ever require any background domain or product knowledge, God forbid you understand the system you are using on an ENTERPRISE SERVER PLATFORM.

oh, noen, when will you ever learn... this is tech talk... the fact that it's made by microsoft makes it inherently bad.

Noen, any insider info on whether MS is going to run the Windows Feedback Program again for Windows 7? I'm totally digging the free copy of Vista Ultimate they sent me 2/24/2009 7:24:48 AM |

I don't have any inside scoop, but I would say it's possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one for Win7. Unlike Vista, Win7 is being dogfooded internally big-time so there's a mountain of user feedback that was a much more difficult sell for Vista.
Not to say it won't happen, so make sure you are an active feedback user in the Beta 2/24/2009 4:23:20 PM |
