sometimes when i wake up and get a drink, that joint pops every time i open it more than a little bit

also, sometimes when i'm eating

i think this might be a side effect of grinding teeth while i sleep. or even worse, pushing on my chin to make my neck pop when it gets stiff. i think i pushed it out of the socket or something. but i guess not out completely. what say you, dr tww

yep, sounds like TMJ

my jaw would lock while under lots of stress

and the TMJ would be killer....now that i can actually relax easier it doesnt happen any more

i read the wikipedia thing and i'm kinda freaked out now. seems like i'm at a mild stage of it, with the popping. if it's doing that at 30, i'd imagine it will be all fucked up by 50.

the coolest treatment looks like the one where they pop it off and reset it in the socket or whatever.

yea i had a relative get the tmj surgery. worked wonders. resetting the jaw sucks, but it works.

^^yeah, the only broken bones i didn't know about immediately were stress fractures- and even then, i knew something was wrong (just when it is something that develops over time, your first thought isn't "break!")

when i broke my jaw, it would hurt even when i wouldnt do anything. pray you dont have a broken jaw. that thing is a bitch to get fixed up. i broke mine when i was 12 and i still have problems with it.
