Who pays $3.00 for cereal unless it's by the box. Most people don't hate money that much.

went there a few times, it was chill.

i guess they were going for the same aspect as "who would pay $3.00 for a beer when they can get a 6 pack for ~5.29"

fuck that. I love 5'oclock way better. 3 dollar 40's on Fridays. 50 cent bush lights and $1 bud lights on saturday. Bowls can suck it.

there's never anybody at 5:00 on friday or saturday nights. if i wanted to drink by myself, i'd just stay at home

^^^ vs bowls which was so packed the owner shut it down because he couldn't keep up with the demand? go with a group of friends. taint a bad time.

^^^ Apparently it was also a chain. I remember reading an article about the place a while back that mentioned their other locations in Florida were doing slightly better.

Slightly better than closing is not profitability.

What social circle do you belong in where, if you were seen drinking in a bar by yourself, the people would come in and 'not socially accept' you?

Just saying, it is estimated that 75% of adults in THE WORLD are at least mildly lactose intolerant. Why open a restaurant that only appeals to 25% of the population?

Melvin's is still there. Melvin's and 5 O'clock are owned by the same guy and his son runs 5 o'clock iirc. I believe he also owned bowls.

bowls was clearly the best idea to ever hit hillsborough street, followed closely by that surf shop.

i need more information about 5 o'clock

^^No pool table. small TV's at each both, as well as one larger one.

That's all I can say about it, because I've never been there as a bar, but when I go to Melvin's that's where I sit.

They had another version of bowls on the food network last night. That one was a little different because they offered really awesome mix-ins to go with it. Plus you could design your own and buy it by the box. That had a little more tactic to it.

i thought this was kind of dumb for nc state but maybe could have worked well somewhere else

all in all, it was an odd concept. i only went there on the hike. never actually paid for cereal i don't think. unless i did it drunkenly, in which i don't remember.
