Hey all,
Via a promotion that was handed down to me from corporate, I will be running a modified ping pong tournament in Raleigh bars for the next two months. This will consist of a qualifying round that will take place in 10+ bars around Raleigh, and a final local tournament to determine the winner. We will most likely be qualifying 4-6 players per location for a total of 32 for the final.
The great part is that it costs nothing to enter, all you have to do is show up and register. There will be drink specials at every location, and the winner of the Raleigh tournament will receive an all expense paid trip for 2 to Vegas to compete for $100,000 in the National Tournament!
It is going to be a little different from your standard rules.
-Pong tables are regulation -Instead of playing to 21, games are played to 11 and best of 3 games moves on -You may not bring your own paddle, you must use the ones provided for fairness -Service is exchanged every 2 pts
Current Locations and Dates (Final Schedule will be complete by tommorrow): March 27th - Buckhead Saloon March 30th - Sammy's Tap and Grill April 8th - Ugly Monkey
I should have 10 more dates total, so keep your eyes peeled for updates! Also as we get closer to each date I will provide the times for each promo. Hope to see you out! 3/5/2009 11:01:04 AM |

I'm generally a cool guy...but I am a closet Ping Pong geek, and have won 2 very informal tournaments, so I am somewhat credible.
Quick Question...the biggest thing that separates novice players from very skilled players is the serve.
Olympic Rules (and almost all other competitive forms of Ping Pong that aren't just recreational) require that you toss the ball in the air at least ~4 inches away from your hand.
This eliminates the "hide-the-ball" serve. Any idea as to if this is in your Ping Pong Challenge?
Even shitty players are hard to beat when they don't show you the ball.
thx. 4/14/2009 5:01:27 PM |
