I need some songs for a young adult crowd in their 20s. So basically a lot of what you'd hear at Buckhead/Hi5/Ess - somethin you can dance to.

But I don't want to just go to Billboard top 40 hip/hop and download off itunes a bunch of popular songs....

I need some good classic/'unknown to most' hip hop songs, songs that make people go "who's this?" Maybe songs by popular artists like TI/Flo Rida that people haven't heard yet or collaborations that don't get too popular. Classic catchy hip hop and old school rap is always good....

whatcha got?

So you volunteered to DJ a party and you don't know music.

You'll go far.

TWW Radio is where it's at

...but honestly I don't know shit about music, but best of luck to you.

There is that one thread....songs you forgot about or something

message_topic.aspx?topic=543384

Might be some good older stuff there that the "young adult crowd" might remember.

Bad idea. Just go Top 40. People at parties don't wanna hear obscure shit. They wanna get down with some bitches and make some bad decisions.

buy all of Enigma's albums and play them in their entirety.

Then play Melissa Ethridge Greatest Hits.

finish the night off with some Bad Company power ballads for the slow dancers.

the man is exactly right

coming from a DJ, stick with what you hear everyday or else the dance floor will be EMPTY

Rick Astley... a little Lazy Town... perhaps finish it up with some Banana Hands...

oh and if theres a lot of bumping and grindin going on, play that "Jizz in my pants song" everybody's been raving about... it'll be off the chains

for serious though, I DJ's my wedding (which I would consider a little easier than what you have to put together) and it took me about 20 hours to pick out and arrange the music order... though... since you're not trying to cater to a wide variety of people, you might not have too difficult of a time.

I think the idea of mixing a little old, some classics, with some new stuff really works out well. But you cant just put down a list of songs and play them in any order, put some time into figuring out how you might want to play them, and be ready to change that up if you notice people feeling one type more than the other.

Good luck.

the 2 songs that are on my playlist that make me want to shake my ass:
britney spears & ying yang twins - i got that boom boom
missy elliot and wyclef - party to damascus

and while we're talking wyclef, perfect gentleman is a good party song.

oh and montell jordan's this is how we do it and missy & crew's hot boyzz are two old school songs that would make me go nuts with my friends

you need to bring:

some Girl Talk albums

Super Mash Bros. - Fuck Bitches, Get Euros
(download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?npzzmhzcdyg )

for serious: mash-up party albums are innovative but familiar
something the youth of today crave so desperately
