My back tire is rather bald, but not showing any metal, or weak spot, so whats the requirement on tires, and specifically do they inspect the back tires differently than the front tires? Also, I have a small tear, probably less than 1/2 inch on my wiper blade, so do I need to change that, or is there a quantitative requirement (like a tear greater than 1 inch for example must be replaced)? If you could link me to the laws, and specific requirements I would really appreciate that. Thanks.

I don't know about vehicle inspectors, but there seem to be a few ass inspectors that make their way in here...
You have to have a minimum of 1/16" tread continuous on your tires. If two consecutive wear bars are showing even with the tread, OR if there is 2nd ply rubber showing anywhere on the tire, it's going to fail.
Wipers are so cheap...just replace it. Even the 26" driver's side complete blade on my Accord was only 15 bucks. And if money for a tire is tight, go hit Murray's downtown and get a used one for considerably less. There are a buttload of places (mostly NOT the chains) that will sell you a used tire for cheap. I spend on average between 25 and 30 bux apiece for tires for my Accord (205/60-16). 3/16/2009 1:42:41 PM |

Haha, man you're an asshole, but I like it! Seriously I am all for being safe, but if I can pass without having to spend money right now, why should I spend? To the poster above you, thanks, thats what I needed so I can do a pre-inspection so I'll know what I need before I go. 3/16/2009 1:45:28 PM |

why not just take care of it now? i dont see the problem, if you cant afford to fix the stuff that is in question, then you shouldnt be driving. IMHO. im not saying im just saying3/16/2009 3:23:16 PM |

1/16 minimum on tires. If it isn't; FAIL
Wiper blade torn: Fail
Depends on the inspectors, but pretty much, just fix it. 3/16/2009 3:35:46 PM |
