I probably should have posted this in Tech Talk but w/e

Long story short... I've been waiting over a month to get a new laptop as it took a long time to ship and then when it was shipped it took over a week to be delivered and it was shipped to my parents house which is 5 hrs away. I drove 3 hrs to meet my mom last night to pick it up. It crashed pretty much as soon as I turned it on.

The return period is only 21 days from the day it was shipped so now I'm on the phone w/ customer support

i just re-installed/updated 3 drivers for the touchsmart software and restarted it... DOING THE SAME SHIT!

i am typing to you from my old reliable Toshiba... it would have been worth just getting a new hard drive for this beast instead of buying a new computer... the tablet is better on it anyways

this is really whiny and I wish I could just complain about it to my mom but she would just tell me I'm a whiner and blow it off, but really, it's one of the reasons we just don't have a closer relationship like she wants.

It just really annoys me that she constantly brags about her friends' kids and never, ever congratulates me or tells me she is proud of the things I'm doing

it's always been like this, no matter how well I'm doing or how happy I am, it's just not good enough

am I the only one who this happens to?

At the end of the day its your life and you can't make everyone happy. It sucks if one of those people is your mom but you have to decide if you're living for yours happiness or for hers.


On the other hand, some people are really bad or awkward about congratulating people directly.

Annnnnd then on the other hand I have aunts/uncles/cousins who constantly tell me they are proud of me but I have literally no relationship with them, nothing in common with the m and they don't know anything about my personality, lifestyle or what I actually do.

Replace mom with Dad and you have my family. Except I don't bother speaking to him or going home...EVER.

I just think of my Dad as a hater, and continue with my happy life.

Go ahead and cuss them out, the return period should start from date of receipt. Tell them the one they send is broken, send it back, tell them to send you one that works.

I honestly get annoyed when people boast about me because I know that I haven't worked very hard for anything like some other people have. I mean I didn't fuck up and like go to jail or have 5 kids by 19 or anything but I grew up pretty fortunate and I did an average job. That is not impressive to me. The things that I'm proud of myself for probably go unnoticed by others and I'm totally okay with that. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I don't know what its like to be in your shoes.
