2002 silverado. tried to drive my truck last night but gas was pouring onto the ground. the engine did run surprisingly. so today i found the fuel line chewed through right where it attaches to the pump.
i need ideas on how to prevent this. so far im thinking about chemical warfare. a pellet gun would be more satisfying though. definitely want to kill at least one to make me feel better.

Either way, I'd be uber pissed if I found out that happened. Wtf did you do to them dude? Run over one of their cousins? 3/27/2009 8:56:04 PM |

might be dealer only. a lot of those push lock type prefabbed hoses are.
i was going to say it's more likely to have been a mouse or a rat, but looking at the pic whatever it was had some decent sized chompers so squirrel might be it. 3/27/2009 9:08:24 PM |

Maybe you can buy some of that metal mesh they put around tubes and hoses that get really hot (or need protection like that).
That's kinda fucked up though. Squirrels are retarded.

be careful with the rat poison. my grandfather had a ranchero one time and a rat died in the dash. you could never ride in it with the windows open again. 3/28/2009 12:14:11 AM |

3 of us asians (who only have worked on AZN cars of course) couldn't figure out for the life of us how to disconnect that type of fuel line from a chevy venture engine.
For those that don't know, it has 4 spring-loaded clips in the female end (and a quick-connect type fitting for the male end) and it's apparently impossible to hit all 4 clips at once to get the line out. We ended up taking the line off somewhere else
should have seen me going at it with bits of cut zip-ties to hold clips in place
[Edited on March 28, 2009 at 10:53 AM. Reason : on 2nd look, it might not be the same fitting.. but close enough ] 3/28/2009 10:52:28 AM |
