why doesn't ebay do ban Chinese knock offs? i'm looking for a nokia n95 and damn there 80% of the listings that say nokia n95 are fake. i understand they make $ off those listings but i'm sure they've received countless complaints ab people getting fake stuff. i don't get it./rant 4/14/2009 2:15:45 AM |

how's ebay going to verify if an item for sale is authentic or not? 4/14/2009 8:40:13 AM |

I guess for some stuff you would have to be a 'authorized reseller' in order to sell a high volume of a particular item, thus the owner or licensor could complain, but this still doesn't validate its authenticity. 4/14/2009 9:02:26 AM |

well you can easily buy the real thing if you select to sort by highest price first
In another thread, a few of the tech regulars had high praises for a chinese knockoff of an all-in-one head unit or something, so it's not all bad. 4/14/2009 10:27:05 AM |

This is a problem as old as eBay. Every now and then a look for rare and signed books as gifts for my wife and most are fakes or forgeries. 4/14/2009 11:23:52 AM |

They don't care about the complaints because buyers will still come back. They've worked off this model for like 10 years.4/14/2009 1:40:57 PM |

why would ebay care? and also most ebay buyers don't care and love getting items for cheap. Win-Win IMO.
The only people who I could see upset are those that have the real item, and it being hard to find in the flood of knockoffs. 4/14/2009 1:47:36 PM |

why wouldn't they make it like criagslist where u could flag these items? it's one thing to say nokia n95/ apple iphone clone that's ok but it's another to say nokia n95/apple ipod fs then in the tiny print no wifi/gps it's annoying as shit. the other part is why isn't the companies themselves gettng on ebay's case ab it? it's essentially the same as selling burned dvds/ cds/cracked software 4/14/2009 4:42:52 PM |

You can file a report with eBay and have the item delisted. 4/14/2009 5:36:17 PM |
