nice. he still has to sit out 2 years right? it's when your graduating class would be?

i guess it's not too important for HS, since you can get your GED or whatever, but dude can't finish the last month of this year?

I think the idea was that he could have stayed in school for another month, finished his junior year courses, and made getting his GED significantly easier.

Of course, that might be the issue right there.

So you all would have stayed in school if you had the opportunity to leave early and make hundreds of thousands before going to another job where you'll make millions?

^^ thats a pretty big assumption. Those 'millions' are far from guaranteed. Especially for a 17 y/o kid. How many "cant miss" 20-somethings bomb every year once they reach the pros?

This sounds to me like there's more going on here. i.e. gonna flunk out, problems at home etc...

With that said, what does finishing HS do for him in this case? Say he bombs once he reaches the pros, well instead of being in HS earning $0 and college earning $0, he will earn $100k and up. If NBA doesn't work out, he comes back, gets his GED and finds something to do, like he would've had he completed HS.

^^? Kwame Brown is making millions to ride the pine. I think he made a great move. After watching him play it is clear that he was not worth it.

http://www.wspa.com/spa/sports/college/clemson/clemson_basketball/article/report_oglesby_leaving_clemson_for_europe/18110/

Say It Ain’t So, T.O.: Oglesby Leaving Clemson For Europe

Clemson, SC – Terrence Oglesby, a starting guard on Clemson’s 2008-09 NCAA Tournament team, has announced he will forego his final two seasons at the school to pursue a professional basketball career. Oglesby appeared in 66 games and scored 777 points in his two seasons with the program.
“Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to play internationally, and as a result I have been given the opportunity of playing professionally in Europe,” Oglesby said. “After much thought and consideration, I have opted to take my basketball career a step further and pursue a professional career.
“I have enjoyed my time at Clemson University and want to thank all the fans and friends for being supportive. My decision is based solely on chasing the dream of being a professional basketball player. I would like to thank all my coaches and teammates for a memorable two years, and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
Oglesby, a native of Cleveland, TN, averaged double figures both of his seasons in a Tiger uniform. He concludes his Clemson career ranked in the top 10 in school history in three-point goals (177), three-point goals per game (2.68), and three-point accuracy (.395). This past season, Oglesby was third-best on the team in scoring at 13.2 points per game. He ranked second in the ACC in three-pointers per game and three-point accuracy. His 92 three-point goals rank as the fourth-most in Clemson history for a single season.

Oglesby received honorable mention for the ACC’s All-Freshman Team in 2007-08 after averaging 10.5 points per game as a reserve. Despite never starting a game, he led the team with 85 three-pointers that season, which included his memorable game-winning long ball to cap a 20-point come-from-behind win at Maryland.
“Terrence has informed me of his decision to seek a professional career in Europe,” said Oliver Purnell, Clemson’s head coach. “Although I am disappointed Terrence will not be with us next season, I wish him all the best in this endeavor. I appreciate all of his efforts and contributions on two NCAA Tournament teams.”

Curious decision

He knows he'll never play in the NBA, and would probably end up in Europe anway

but why go 2 years early ?

Yeah, he'll get paid for those 2 years, but still

I would think the cunt at Clemson would rival or even trump the cunt available to a pro baller in Europe

It's a stupid argument to begin with, but did you just say the women in South Carolina are hotter than the women in the largest cities in Europe?

Really?

Really?

yeah, as opposed to spending one year in college taking "classes" where tutors will give him answers and professors will hike his grades to keep him on the team. Let's just drop the academic pretense--it's a joke when it come to major college revenue sports.

Don't attack this kid for bucking the system, attack the system for being hypocritical.

Yeah, you win the case hands down because of one fucking example of a picture that doesn't even work. If you're 30+, then yes, obviously the women in Europe are going to be more appealing. But when you're still 21, then girls at a public southern university are going to strike your fancy for a myriad of reasons

1) Accessibility...you play basketball for a D1 team, you get laid, no matter how ugly you are (and Terrance is no Ryan Atwood) Girls at Clemson I'm sure make advances on him everyday...In Europe he would just be a stupid Yankee and with his looks would struggle to even get the attention of a good looking women.

2) Familiarity... I seriously fucking Oglesby speaks anything but English. Its extremely easy to convince a drunk sorostitute to fuck you when you speak the same language. But imagine him trying to get a Spanish or Latvian women to blow him after triple overtime vs FC Latshowvash. They wouldn't give two shits about him, and he'd end up in his flat jacking off to BBC.

3) Maturity...Oglesby is dumb. I've seen him talk, seen him interact with people. Not exactly Chauncey Billups in the locker room. He struggles to maintain a modicum of maturity in the ACC. In Europe, playing with 30 year Eurotrash men, he'll be beaten down both physically and mentally. At the end of the day, he won't have the time or the energy to put in the effort to score any of those "Euro Mega Babes" you love so much.

I could go on, but I won't.

BTW, I'm sure the pussy at any college in the USA trumps that of towns like Buffalo, Modesto, and Akron... yet hundreds of 20 year olds forgo College to play "professional" baseball there for $900.00 a month, with as much chance of making the show as Oglesby,

I wasn't aware of the Norweigan connection...I thought he was just a Brendan Plavich-like ugly white guy with Reddick Range

Regardless, I stay in school if I'm him...he has the next 15 years to play in Europe and fuck all the Euro hotties that will obviously be all over his dick as soon as he sets down at Gardermoen

I was going to read Slave Famous's post but then I realized it was a bunch of bullshit hypothetical scenarios about why Oglesby would get more and better quality ass at Clemson than in Europe. That's some quality backtracking after he realized how stupid what he said sounded.

I agree with Slave Famous's post. Most hot euro's will not give a shit about some American professional basketball. I have no idea how popular the basketball team is at Clemson, but I am willing to bet Oglesby has a good amount of hot chicks throwing themselves at him simply because he is on the basketball team. This will not happen in Europe; the language barrier only makes it more difficult. Paul Shirley (basketball journeyman) discussed this very topic in his book entitled "Can I Keep My Jersey?"
