^^where was anything demonized? before our current president, all of the presidents and vice presidents were white christian males, for better or worse. that isn't the case anymore and i doubt it will be nearly as big of a deal in the future. that is a good thing. or is it not to you?

But I'm not talking the federal tax rate either, I'm talking total tax burden which from '55 to '98 increased from ~20% to ~40% (I would imagine its fallen a bit since '98, but I'm under no illusions that is anymore permanent than sub $2 gas was a few months back)

I remember when Emperor Bush and Darth Cheney lied to the American people falsifying intelligence about WMDs and a link to Osama Bin laden; to justify a costly, long, and drawn out war in Iraq that kill >4000 american soliders and countless more iraqi's. -greatly expanded executive powers to violate our constitutional rights in the name of "national security" by use of the patriot acts

-took a budget surplus and set new records for deficit spending

- through mismanagement was one of the factors in tanking the economy in 2008.

- Had members under him in the Dept of teh Interior caught fraternizing with barons of the oil industry with whom they were supposed to be regulating.

- Made us look like idiots in the international community

yeah you're looking at the top tax rate in that bracket, there were massive loop holes back then so none of them really ever payed 80-90% tax on their income.... but nice try

I dont care if my taxes go up, so long as the economy rises with it and my pay is adjusted accordingly.
