Anyone know anything about this place?
http://www.raleighwoodmovies.com/
They state on their site you can watch the canes on a 35 ft. screen and it's free admission.
Anyone done this before? 5/15/2009 12:45:19 PM |

I haven't but I miss going to Raleighwood. Beer and food FTW. 5/15/2009 1:07:40 PM |

My wife and her dad did that during the 2002 playoff run. They said it was pretty fun, and you do get beer and food as mentioned above. 5/15/2009 1:08:57 PM |

i've seen movies there a couple of times, it's a cool setup. The food and beer is what you'd expect at a movie theater. 5/15/2009 1:10:48 PM |

ie it's pretty terrible food.
i don't understand the appeal of this. i went once and it was just awkward and very distracting from watching the movie i wanted to watch. now having a hockey game shown like this might not be so bad. it would probably be less distracting than your typical sports bar. 5/15/2009 1:13:00 PM |

^ that is exactly what I was thinking... a hundred or so (size of this place?) Canes fans ONLY there for the game... big screen.. beer.. surround sound. This could be pretty cool... 5/15/2009 1:20:49 PM |

It is pretty hard to watch football in there (the screen is blurry)
I can imagine it could be nearly impossible to watch hockey there
All their weird rules are pretty annoying as well
I will never EVER pay $3.50 for a soda without refills, and locking the doors at halftime is pretty fucking stupid (you have to go out front to let late friends in yourself, and they get all mad when you do that)
The service has almost always been bad (I've waited over an hour for wings before) and doesnt seem to be affected by whether they are busy or not.
The half-off wings for MNF are bangin, and it is a novel experience, but for hockey I would rather go to a place with a nice big HDTV.

^^ i have to attest to this and definitely agree with the screen. Before a movie they had some NFL highlights and it looked like it was being displayed on the screen in semi-blurry analog. The theater screen reminded me of an old school Carmike screen from my childhood. No, they don't have DLP projectors..
the food is pretty expensive unless you go with a burger & fries. This is where they recoup the cost of the 4.50 ticket price. Everything we've tried from the mushrooms (which were discontinued) to ice cream was fairly bland. Not bad.... but definitely not good either. 5/17/2009 12:17:57 PM |

I would say go for a MNF game, but get a pitcher of beer instead of sodas.
Half-off wings (that aren't bad at all) all night and free nachos and prizes at half-time is pretty sweet. 5/17/2009 1:04:09 PM |
