Is there even a market for high gravity beer in Alabama?
I'd think that the residents of Alabama would scoff at paying more than $13 per case of beer. 5/18/2009 3:15:31 PM |

i think he was implying that bama residents are mostly hicks and would prefer a case of PBR over a 6 pack of hefeweizen [/gross generalization not to be taken seriously]

This is a stupid question. Obviously there is a market for high gravity beer if a bunch of Alabamians created an organization to lobby for a change in the laws and successfully accomplished it. Good for them, most craft breweries wouldn't have even bothered distributing to Alabama beforehand because a good amount of their beers would have been illegal. This is a pretty funny audio clip of an Alabama State Senator talking about this legislation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZoTJzh13n8&feature=related5/20/2009 4:33:20 PM |

Quote : | "Is there even a market for high gravity beer in Alabama?" | This is a stupid question. Even though I realize you were commenting about the people of alabama, and not the justification for the current law: In the context of this thread, such a question at least implies that adequate consumer demand must necessarily exist in order to consider removing an unjust ban placed on retailers. Retailers should be able sell whatever [otherwise legal] beer they wish, regardless of whether or not there's a market for it....[/serious reaction to gross generalization not to be taken seriously]5/21/2009 8:50:41 AM |
