I have a 3000gt and a vette, I'm looking to build one of the two up to make a small profit. I'm just curious what a 91 3000gt vr4 with a 3.8L 6g74 w 6g75 forged internals with ported vr4 heads and twin td05 20gmitsubishi turbos would go for. Yeah, it's never been done and I can do it haha. I'm an ase certified technician so I'm not just talking out my ass when I say it should run 8's in the quarter because I'm going to vacuum mold anything and everything heavy with two layers of 12k carbon fiber (not that 3k carbon fiber and a bunch of shitty fiberglass and poylester resin bullshit) I'm saying as tough as a brick but light as a feather (I'm hoping to get it to 3000lbs or less vs 3700lbs factory). So basically it will be the sickest 3000gt vr4 ever (show and gooooooo!) Tell me how much could it sell for... "

I still don't get folks who think that modding their car will increase the value. Maybe he hasn't heard the term, "money pit".

Only one car (Stealth RT/TT) has broken 8's, and the current record is 8.74 on twin DR1300's @ 35psi with a 3.54 stroked 6G72, and that guy had serious traction issues with dot slicks. This guy has a long way to go with twin 20g's.

yeah looking in the engine bay it didnt look fun to pull that engine out. or do any work to the back head. even the spark plugs looked challanging.

it's actually not bad at all. easier to pull the transmission and engine together though.

i could pull the engine, replace both head gaskets and put it back in in around 12 hours

[Edited on June 14, 2009 at 12:36 PM. Reason : although it took 2 or 3 times before i got that fast at it ]

bought it with a spun rod bearing.. pulled it out once to replace crank, messed up rod and bearings...previous owner had rebuilt the engine and engine builder had done a fucking awful job finishing the crank.. like all of the journals were so rough you could see where he had ground them down and never polished them. so yea, destroyed the bearings pretty fast

so, one for crank and twice for head gaskets. it was fine until i turned the boost up..looking back the heads were probably warped and i should have had them looked at by a machine shop but sold it instead

i'm doing the clutch in mine this weekend, should be fun.

yeah, working on them really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. 300zx folks have it the worst, have to pull the damn engine out just to get to the turbos. the thing that sucks about earlier generation vr4's like mine is the 18-spline x-fer cases, which tend to crack if launched too hard

my old N/A threw a rod back when I had it, and that was due to an issue with the crank, but i have never had that problem on the TT. i took it to rockingham last summer and didn't even realize i had an oil pan leak until i stopped at a gas station on the drive back up. checked the oil, probably was down 1.5 qts, but i was pretty surprised i didn't even hear a single ping. taking it down again for a PDX in a couple weekends, hopefully I'll be better prepared this time

yo ScHpEnXeL, you had a stealth TT right?
