My dog is older and hates being hot, so he sleeps on the hardwoods. The problem is he can't really get off the floor and I'm afraid he will slip and hurt himself. I am looking to buy, or make, some kind of reverse heating pad. Something large enough for him to lay on (hes a big dog), that keeps cool, and has enough traction for him to stand up on. I have looked around online and haven't found anything close to what im looking for. Ideas please? 5/27/2009 12:00:48 PM |

mom had this for her older golden http://www.petstreetmall.com/Canine-Cooler/1954/1474/
you put water in it and it stays cool for a longggg time. not slippery. very durable (unless you have a puppy chew on it). 5/27/2009 12:06:54 PM |

uh, pretty sure you fill it with water.. as in it holds the water inside of it. not just soaking it down with water
if i'm wrong then that product is retarded

no, you put water IN IT, like i said before...
it's not like a water bed or anything. it feels like gel + foam. you put just a tiny bit of water in, i don't remember how much.
even when chelsea, the puppy, chewed it open, it didn't run water all over the place.

when you have a cool object in a warm area, condensation may still be a factor. it's very nice of you to do something for him but dont want you to ruin your floors. definately look for product review to see if others have had a problem with that. 5/28/2009 5:27:20 AM |

already tried the fan thing, I don't think he likes it blowing in his face. However, he does like laying ON the air vent. 5/28/2009 12:50:56 PM |
