The argument could be made that this is an infringement on those folks' free speech. It's their vehicle, why the hell can't they display whatever flag they want from it.

That's why I said it would make more sense... at least their country still exists, and through the years was able to change the kernel of what the flag represents. The confederate flag still represents the same thing it represented when the confederacy seceded then lost.

Like I said before, I don't mind it on private property or on people... it makes it easy to identify dumb rednecks, racists, idiots like tiberius and eyedrb, etc... in a sea of what I like to believe is mostly good people.

Why would they be idiots? The confederate flag was not used as a sign of pro slavery and was not originated as a symbol of white pride. The flag is associated primarily with "southern" culture. This means different things to different people and to many is as simple as the imagery of sweet tea on a porch in the summer, saying hello and being friendly with neighbors and a plethora of things that people associate with southern charm.

Sure you could suggest that some racists use the stars and bars in racist ways, but people use all sorts of icons to represent ideals that are not intrinsic to the icon itself. e.g. the cross or the american flag.

The stars and bars wasn't even the initial flag of the confederacy. In fact, the flag for the state of north carolina is modeled directly after the original flag of the unified south. Does flying this flag make one ignorant or a racist as well? If no then why not since it was a prominent flag of southern separation.

The flag is no more than a country flag flown during a war whose causes ranged from slavery to economic freedom and there is no purpose to attribute the intent and ideology of the flag with one cause more than the other.
