Ive been trying to think of this specific movie name for years. I need help.
I remember seeing it in the 80s, and it was a very Romancing-the-Stone-type-movie, with a hero, the bad guy, the girl, the dangerous animals.
- It starred a protagonist who goes to Africa to save something, or retrieve something - movie takes place there. I believe in a city, like Nairobi - The main character has an SUV flown in, in a crate - with guns that fold out the sides near the windows. I believe it was red or maroon - There were lions involved - Near the end, the bad guy takes an innocent bystander on the tarmac of a runway hostage, then slits his throat before running onto the plane for his getaway
If I had to guess, it was from the early to mid 80s

From the IMDB page it looks like this has a lot of nudity which I dont remember, but I guess 5-7 year olds dont really pay attention to nudity
Was there an SUV with guns on it?6/9/2009 10:30:02 PM |

I'm not sure if they took place in Africa, but what about the Adventures of Alan Quartermain (sp?) 6/9/2009 10:48:28 PM |

^ it seems very close to that, except Im pretty sure this took place in the modern era, rather than in the 30s or 40s like Allan Quartermain and The Lost City of Gold seems to
I could definitely be wrong, but for some reason the name 'Jack' for the protagonist stands out in my mind 6/9/2009 10:58:54 PM |

Trailers The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eidq9NnKQU (Gives hints at just how much nudity is in this film)
Allan Quartermain and The Lost City of Gold Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3071D-KQ3E (Optimus Prime narrates)
Jake Speed? GOT to be it. Not a trailer, but has scenes - particularly all the scenes you referenced except the lion scene (which is referenced in the wiki page) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWJukZUEPvw

WOW, that is definitely it, great work! Ive been searching for this movie for two decades now and asked dozens of people if they know what movie it is. That Metallica video had pretty much everything I remembered about the movie - jake/jack name, dangerous animals (lion in the room scene), retrieving a kidnapped woman, awesome maroon SUV with guns on the side airdropped from a plane, it even shows the bad guy cutting the hostage's throat on the runway.
How did you find this? Did you remember it from when you were a kid or just skillful google searching?6/10/2009 11:55:09 PM |

^ BTW, the film's star, Wayne Crawford, is a faculty member at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

^ BTW, I didn't post that video because the movie at issue is crappy--though I seem to remember that it is. I just posted it because it had music from the film--very '80s music. 6/11/2009 1:41:58 AM |
