So i am curious. My wife gets up at 430 and i get up at 630. So i got to bed later than her. She hates that i dont go to bed at the same time but at 930 i am not ready for bed yet. So how many people go to be at different times? I am also curious who has more than an hour time difference for wake up time but goes to bed at the same time? 6/14/2009 9:27:07 PM |

She's not a spouse technically, but I've lived with my girlfriend for about a year now. We usually go to bed at the same time. We don't have days off together, but I still do. On days that she has to wake up before me, I'll usually wake up with her anyway. On days she has off but I have to work, she'll continue to be passed out until noon or so. Rarely am I up later than her, and she never stays up later than I do. 6/14/2009 9:41:51 PM |

if we're both home during the week then most nights i go to bed after my wife - i just took a new job that will require me to set my alarm in the morning so we might be going to sleep at the same time give or take soon 6/14/2009 9:55:55 PM |

i usually pass out on the couch, and she then tries to wake me up because she can't listen to so you think you can dance over my snoring. then i grumble and usually fall back to sleep. 6/14/2009 11:00:18 PM |

11:30 is about the time we both go to bed together on average. I usually want go to bed earlier than my husband (oooh i love saying that!! and we've lived together for 3 yrs). i'm ready to go to bed at or before 11, while he can stay up til midnight easy. my alarm is set for 6:30, but i wake up at 6:50. he wakes up just after 7:30. we don't get nearly enough sleep. :/ 6/15/2009 9:47:46 AM |

I go to bed several hours before my husband even thinks of coming to bed. In some ways, it is nice because he'll take the dog out one last time and take care of Silas's last diaper change and midnight snack. However, we miss out on a lot of great conversation and sex that use to happen back in our college years when we went to bed at the same time. Not to mention, I wake up first and sometimes I just can't help but aggravate him until he wakes up because I want to spend time with him. 6/15/2009 9:53:04 AM |

We go to bed together most every night. Most of the time, one of us will fall asleep on the couch until the other is ready for bed. Our typical bed time is between 11 and 11:30. 6/15/2009 10:00:55 AM |

I'm usually in bed 30 mins. or so before she gets there. In the winter, when I have to be up at 330 or 4, it's closer to 1.5 hours before her. 6/15/2009 10:20:22 AM |

My husband gets up at 3 am to go to work and I get up at 7. Needless to say, I rarely go to bed when he does. I go to bed around 1 and he is in bed about 8:30. 6/15/2009 10:44:59 AM |

Change "spouse" to "girlfriend whom I live with"
She has an irregular work schedule, has to be in as early as 7 or as late as noon depending on the day, whereas I try to get to work around 8:30 every day. Neither of us like to go to bed early, but most days I try to stay up until she's ready for bed. Unfortunately that is often after 1 AM, which results in me not getting enough sleep most nights, but I'm just not a fan of going to sleep before midnight or later.

my wife gets up at 3:45, and I get up about 6:30, so she goes to bed around 9, and i go to bed around midnight. 6/15/2009 3:02:11 PM |

I really don't get how people survive on 6 hours of sleep regularly. Hell, I get 7-7.5 most nights and still have bags under my eyes by Friday 6/15/2009 3:49:33 PM |

We work shifts with the twins at night, so she goes to bed around 8pm (she always has, this isnt because of the twins). The twins then become solely my responsibility until 2am, then she takes over. This way we are both guaranteed at least 5+ hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. I usually go to bed around 11 or midnight and just get out of bed if the twins wake up. 6/15/2009 7:13:31 PM |

i rarely stay up past 10 these days...doesn't bother me, though, because i rather like getting to work earlier than everyone else and then having more of my afternoon/evening 6/16/2009 1:32:43 PM |

I'm up and gone in the morning before she's thought about getting up, BUT I'm the last one to bed pretty much 99% of the time. Normally about 10 she's winding down and giving me the peace out. I'll roll in about 11 or 12. I'm normally up at 5:30 or 6 depending on which job I'm going to. She's getting up at 6:30-7ish
I have no idea what time she goes to bed when I'm at work, where I'm usually in bed by 10. 6/16/2009 4:23:35 PM |

I used to feel this way, but not so much any more. If I get more than 7-7.5 hours of sleep I feel as bad as if I got 4.5. Usually 6-6.5 is the best. Occasionally I'll sleep in (this used to be 2pm, now sleeping in is 10:30) but I always feel guilty when I do. Even on my days off.
It's nice to have more of my day, but it makes me feel like I'm getting old. Realizing that my college days are actually history is difficult.6/21/2009 5:21:14 PM |

8-9 hours per night is my happy place
if i get less than 6 i NEED a nap at some point (even if its after i get home from work)
i can survive on less than 5 but at that point, i'm not exactly the most ideal person to be around 6/21/2009 5:34:47 PM |

for some reason, my wife sleeps better if she goes to sleep first. fine with me, gives me a chance to play poker or read in bed 6/21/2009 7:17:49 PM |

Well for me at least, college I always slept around 6 hours. Sometimes more on Sat. After that, I start the "real world" but I still went out to poker games at night. So I would come home around 2am and still got to work at 8am. I did this for quite some time. Now that I have other responsibilities, I am not playing poker every night (still go out every so often), I am really set in my ways. I wake up before my alarm clock about 90% of the time.
I can't nap either. When I take one, I will never go to sleep. 6/21/2009 9:46:40 PM |
