I want to take 2 or 3 days to go do something in the mountains where we can tube down a river and go rock sliding. Anyone have any suggestions about where and when would be the best time to go. Thanks

theres a sliding rock in cashiers. not like THE sliding rock .... a lot smaller but still fun and never very crowded when i've gone.

then you could go hiking at whiteside mountain!

cashiers/highlands area is pretty nice. but pretty out there.

oh and the chattooga river is up that way but i don't think you can tube on that. you can white water raft and kayak though. at least on parts of it.

i've literally never heard of "rock-sliding" before this thread and that makes me sad.

Last time we went rock sliding the rocks tore through the jeans we wore AND our bathing suits.

Keep that in mind...

wilsons creek in caldwell county is pretty good for tubing....gets crowded in the summer time tho.

carolina hemlocks near black mountain is the same, good tubing water, but crowded during peak season.

sliding rock is awesome. been there a couple times, definately addictive, usually pretty crowded though.

i believe there is good tubing over at deep creek over near bryson city, its about 5 hours from raleigh. i went there once, but it was about 10 years ago, from what i can remember it was pretty fun.

^ & ^^ I was wondering that myself.

Sliding rock is ok. Go early, they dont start charging till like 10. We always went at like 8 or 9, got in free, and no ones there till 11.

Couple other places ive been but Id have to be driving around the mountains to know where they are at again.
