You will spend the next 30 months on foreign soil
However, before you go, you can spend the next three weeks at any US location of your choice
Think long and hard about this decision, because once you make it, it is final and cannot be changed
........................................
Do you have your answer ?
I do...I choose...RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA !!!"

Maybe he has a reason for spending the time here rather than somewhere more exciting...visiting with family/friends for instance? 6/18/2009 9:42:45 AM |

This was a big disappointment last year. If you wanted food, you had to stand in line for 45min-1hr. They ended up running out. They also ran out of bourbon. I hope they're better prepared this year to deal with the crowd.6/18/2009 12:13:40 PM |

What country are you serving in? Also, you might end up back in the states for unexpected trips, I had to come back briefly for a funeral. Have a safe trip and enjoy your 27 months of service!
You'll probably find that you spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about food. So I recommend going to your favorite places to eat, for me that would be:
-Mitch's Tavern -Lilly's Pizza -Neomonde's Bakery & Deli -Irregardless -Flying Saucer (on pint night)
Other than food: -Eno River State Park has a great festival on/around the 4th of July http://www.enoriver.org/Festival/index.html -Cloud Chamber at NC Museum of Art -Take food to go from Neomonde's or else where and have a picnic at the Rose Garden -First Friday Downtown happens on the first Friday of every month -Artspace

Drinking? No alcohol is allowed at the Festival for the Eno, or in any of the Durham City Parks.
Free Food? (Sure, if you bring it in) Coolers are allowed at the Festival, but may be checked for alcohol, which is not allowed.
Schedule? http://www.enoriver.org/Festival/Schedule/09scheduleweb.html
Cool shit to do? Website doesn't list anything other than the music festival and the craft show 6/19/2009 10:53:52 AM |

^Sums it up well. It's fun if you go with a group of friends and bring a blanket for the lawn plus your own food and drinks (minus alcohol). There is a lot of bluegrass and folk music going on and some world music. The river is pretty nice to hang out by and walk in. The festival does have an outdoorsy/hippie feel to it. If you enjoy that type of setting, great, and if not there should be enough going on to keep you entertained for half or the majority of one day. To go to all three days would probably only make sense if you really enjoyed the type of music that was being played. 6/19/2009 11:07:55 AM |
