I have a Linksys WAG200G. Its an ADSL modem and router combined.
Now, i need just a router for use with a cable modem. Any way i can make this sucker work? I doubt it because it lacks a normal "Internet" ethernet port. It has only the ADSL port so one of the 4 ethernet ports would have to be made into an "Internet" port somehow.
Ain't gonna work, eh? 6/28/2009 11:30:37 AM |

I only looked for about 20 seconds, but it seems like it can take an aftermarket firmware

Now, whether you can turn one of those ports into an uplink, you're gonna have to look yourself. 6/28/2009 11:38:06 AM |

that's an adsl gateway, not a router. 6/28/2009 12:00:29 PM |

just spend the $30 on a router. sell the ADSL gateway or whatever it is and make back most of the $$ 6/28/2009 12:10:34 PM |

you can stick OpenWRT on there... once you do that, the ethernet ports on the switch can be reassigned to different vlans... stick one of them in the same vlan as the adsl modem, and boom...
that is, of course, assuming there's an internal ethernet bridge between the modem and the router components.
but honestly, just do ^^] 6/28/2009 7:03:20 PM |
