Alright well....

I was walking home to my apartment and noticed a guy on a bike that looked very similar to mine. Then I heard him use the breaks - which on mine, have a very distinctive loud screeching noise - and I knew it was mine.

So I watched him - and then called the non emergency line of the Fairfax County PD. They sent someone out. Although while that was happening, I locked myself out of my apartment and my dad came and broke in. Good times.

Anyways - the cop asked a bunch of questions and I told him that the guy was either dating or married to a blond that lived in one of the other apartments. The cop went down there and he asked her to call the guy and bring the bike over. He brought it back over the apartment. By that time, another cop showed up at my apartment. The first cop came back up with the bike in his trunk. The guy that had the bike said that he had found it in a dumpster with a blown tire, he replaced it and then kept it.

So my lock was still on it (cause I forgot to lock it up) so the cop asked me to unlock it (which I did) and the cop was like, that's enough for me, and gave me my bike back

Now, the only thing that sucks is that there's black spraypaint all over the damn thing, including the brand new chains and gears that I bought, so I'm taking it to get looked at tomorrow.

But I got the thing back and saved the couple hundred bucks I would've had to pay for a new one

I had a bike stolen on campus in 05 in the AM.

$100 Mongoose with a broken right pedal (axle only) and no rear brake pads (they rubbed on the rim).

Never got it back but it probably got dumpstered quick.

This poor bike that was stolen, spraypainted then recovered was the same bike I was riding when I got hit on Thursday.

At the doctor now to find out the extend of the damage. My ankle and shin are developing into very pretty colors.


I actually wasn't in the road, I was on the sidewalk crossing the street and had the right of way. She was making a right turn on red, didn't see me until after she slammed into me with her mini van.

that sucks esp since you were at a cross walk and its obvious the driver wasnt paying attention

did the driver get a ticket or anything? im glad you are OK other than some bumps and bruises

Not sure about the other driver. I need to get a copy of the police report. I was backboarded and put into an ambulance so not quite sure what happened.

The orthopedist is checking me out to make sure I don't have any torn ligaments or tendons. Swelling is still pretty bad.

But yes, I do have a good story to tell

Doctors appointment today - should be getting the boot off.

Unfortunately I've developed some neck/back/hip issues. Might be seeing a chiropracter after it's all said and done
