I bought a vehicle out of state, so I had to pay the HUT. They calculated it based on the price before rebate though. Seems wrong to me. Is that correct? 7/11/2009 7:07:58 PM |

The taxes you pay to the state are all based on what the state says your car is worth. It has nothing to do with what you actually paid for the car. 7/11/2009 7:38:57 PM |

^actually, if it was bought from a dealer, it has everything to do with what you paid for the vehicle. only private party sales use the state determined values. 7/12/2009 11:35:12 AM |

So, is it calculated before or after rebate(s)? 7/12/2009 5:09:23 PM |

its calculated on whatever the DMV says its calculated on. they took pity on me because they couldnt find my car in the system, so they went off the transaction amount.
but any private party generally goes off their tables, and any dealer sold car generally goes off the invoice (pre rebates in other words) 7/12/2009 5:41:33 PM |
