^probably just that, a VGA D-sub to S-Video, the likes of which I've never gotten to work on my trusty Sony VVega 7/12/2009 10:23:49 PM |

it's not s-video
s-video = (a 4-pin + a plastic piece. the one I have is 8-pin with no plastic piece and the pins appear to be more rectangular than round)

did you read the link i posted or just look at the 1 picture of the 4 pin s-video cable? there are multiple variations - although admittedly none are 8pin
if it's not s-video it's probably something proprietary 7/12/2009 10:48:08 PM |

I skimmed through it. I meant it wasn't the normal S-video. and the others aren't 8-pin. the only other 8-pin on there is a din connector, which this is not.
I'm guessing it's just proprietary, as you said, since I can't find anything on it. 7/12/2009 10:51:47 PM |

It's an 8pin video out cable for ATi video cards. specifically called an 8-pin Mini Din.

yeah, that's definitely a mini-din connector.
i think noen has it right - maybe it goes to one of those older ATI TV Wonder cards that had weird connectors? 7/13/2009 1:21:55 AM |

I have a feeling thats one of the cables that come with the old NVidia cards where they would have dual dvi out + something that looked like s-video but it was for hooking up their proprietary cable to component for HD 7/13/2009 9:40:46 PM |
