i have a couple friends in town and they wanted to go out tonight. i told them Fridays in Raleigh suck but they still are down for a night on the town. lookin for somewhere upscale but still economical.any stand out places?

Solas if you want upscale. There aren't really any places in Raleigh that I would consider not economical. Especially after going out in NYC a couple weeks ago.

those are not my favs but i guess they seem classy and big easy has drink specials usually. and a dance floor.

but you might run into horrible music there, just fyi.

^ mosquito and white collar are probably pretty good choices. though they are a little too expensive for what you get. i dunno. i guess they just aren't my type of places. class = not my thing hah

hi-5 is guaranteed to be crowded on a friday night, and they have a dance floor and play like the top 40 hits stuff. also is typically an older crowd (post college)

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone who qualifies as a "guido" at The Hive.

I've also never found White Collar to be anywhere near "expensive", especially considering there's no cover. Mosquito is pretty up there though.

And I second Hi5 - G105 broadcasts live there on Fridays and they usually give away shirts/movie passes/stickers plus drink specials. Only 5 bucks to get in, and you can also go Bogarts and Red Room with your wristband.

white collar is awful, i can't see how anyone likes that place. in no way can it be described as upscale, the dance floor is tiny and usually filled with a couple guys showing off the latest break dancing moves, they show nerdy shit on the tv's, and the service is horrible.

someone recommended the big easy, but i wouldn't consider that a dance floor because no one uses it. its more like a rape cave

mosquito always has a lot of people actually on the dance floor, ess also sounds like the type of place you are looking for, solas probably doesn't fit your economical requirement and the dancefloor doesn't get used too much... but there are plenty of $200 glittery dragon t shirts for you

hi-5 should have a good crowd on friday, and like begonias said you can make your way up to bogarts and hi-5. i hate the layout down there for what they try to turn it into, but whatever.

for the record sometimes i like the globe (okay ive been there like twice). and that is on gloso. and the rockford.

neither of which have a dancefloor, though.
