Would anyone recommend a 2.1 system for use in a living room setup? I'm not going to spend the time/effort to run wires for a 5.1 system through the walls, nor do i want to spend the money.... so I figured a 2.1 or nothing.
--also, how would one go about controlling the volume of a system like that without using a separate remote (not easily possible?) 7/29/2009 8:31:31 PM |

I have a Sony DAV-X1 system for sale. Google search it. I will sell it for $175...Its a Sony 2.1 system.
Do you have a cable box? If so you can use the remote to adjust volume, or use variable output on your TV. 7/29/2009 8:47:53 PM |

I have the Sony HTCT-100 soundbar/woofer...LOVE IT i have it hooked up to a 52" lcd
the woofer acts as a receiver and has 3 hdmi inputs and 1 hdmi output.. (it has other ins/outs but the hdmi are the only ones i use)
so i have my dvr hd box and my ps3 going into the woofer, and only 1 hdmi going to the TV
sounds so good i have never used the speakers on the TV..i have the soundbar and the woofer on all the time. this is in my living room in my house which is a pretty open floorplan. it is loud and works great
it has "simulated" 5.1 surround sound and it actually does a really good job. the sounds go across the room and can also be heard behind you the way they are projected.. some channels only support 2.1 but an awful lot of the HD channels support the 5.1, and of course the PS3 does as well.
