I sprayed the hell out of my computer today with some compressed air. Opened it up, sprayed everything including power supply. Looks nice but when I took it up to my new place and hooked everything up, it wouldn't stay on. When I turn it on it gets to a different spot everytime, sometimes it doesn't post, other times windows begins to load. I'm pretty sure I fuxored the power supply but I want to get another opinion before I order a new one. 8/5/2009 6:44:39 PM |

never heard of doing that with compressed air.
sure it isn't a loose cable somewhere? 8/5/2009 6:45:54 PM |

I was thinking I clogged it up or something may have gotten wet 8/5/2009 6:48:13 PM |

you zapped something. Moving dust causes static to build up. *ZAP* Honestly its often not worth it to clean the inside of a computer excepting fans and maybe heat sinks for this reason.
Do standard troubleshooting though on this. Loose cables as prospero said if you moved it. Then again I doubt you fried the PS, normally happens on the mobo. 8/5/2009 10:13:44 PM |

Does mobo make sense if it will post/ begin to load? 8/5/2009 10:59:13 PM |

So I connected the power supply to the mobo (no hd or drives) and it did the same thing. I want to get this fixed soon but I don't wanna buy a new mobo and power supply, so I need to narrow this down. 8/6/2009 2:54:01 PM |

Ah kk, sorry. If it wont post thats something else but if it does and then turns off thats pwr/heat related. Could be a number of things.
Do standard troubleshooting and start swapping stuff out. What you did is a good start, now get a diff PS and try it.
