Battery as is found in D810 series (and other) laptop. Battery light on laptop started flashing 4 times orange and once green in rapid succession. Pulled the battery and it flashes lights 1, 3, and 5 when checking the charge amount. The health indicator shows that it has less than 60% max capacity left. Anyone ever try troubleshooting these battery packs?
Pack voltage is 11.6V discharged and evenly distributed across the series cells. 8/5/2009 9:55:58 PM |

Hold down the power indicator, it'll blink and show a number of LEDs lit up as shown in the manual. The more LEDs lit, the higher the batter wear. 5 LEDs is over 60% wear.
The battery was dead when it decided to crap, since then I've pried the case apart and removed the 9-cell pack and electronics so I could save the weight while I try to diagnose the problem. 8/5/2009 10:18:43 PM |

I pulled the battery out, then I separated the battery's case and it has 9 cells and control electronics. The case has been replaced in the laptop to fill the void (it has a foot). 8/5/2009 11:01:55 PM |
