Banning championships from being held in states offering sports betting.

Following not far on the heels of the FSU-Native American mascot debacle and the whole Confederate flag-related championship ban (which regardless of your opinion on the wisdom or lack thereof of the SC legislature's actions is a curious pursuit).

Meanwhile USC is running a professional sports program, and other real issues that actually align with the NCAA's mission get ignored. Each of these PR stunts is a move to take the focus off of real issues the NCAA has difficulty gaining real traction on.

Not like Delaware, Nevada, Montana or Oregon are exactly sports states to begin with.

do you even know what's going on at USC? or do you just spout some OMGREGGIEBUSHGOTPAID!!! bullshit? did you even know that the NCAA has no right to subpoena people in that case...they basically have no legislative rights in Bush's case...and since Bush paid off the only real witness, there is jack shit the NCAA can do about his case

and really, who gives a fuck if Delaware can't have tourneys? i also don't give a fuck for SC when the ACC pulled the baseball tourney out of Myrtle Beach.

^^haha, have you ever heard of OJ Mayo? Rodney Gilliroy? Tim Floyd?

They have like 5 returning players. If Reggie Bush never went there, they'd still be one of the most scandalous schools today.

of course i've heard of them...and that shit is still going on...for fuck's sake, floyd just quit less than 2 months ago.

so either he's bitching about bush or he's complaining that an investigation into the basketball program isn't happening...which is wrong

Hahaha, the investigation isn't happening?

Maybe not by the NCAA. But there's some slightly more powerful initials investigating the school and those involved. Like the FBI, IRS and U.S. Attorney’s Office. You're a Government man, would you like liked to be audited by any of these agencies? I'm suuuure they'll just go away.

i was saying that the NCAA isn't doing anything regarding Reggie Bush because they're powerless to do anything in his specific case

it's a basketball thread? you talked about basketball specifically, but that's not what everyone before you was saying

and it's not me that's worked up - i'm not the one calling a good move to slow betting on amateur sports "social activism"

BTW, my original post re: bush was meant to say that markgoal claiming the NCAA isn't addressing the USC issues is patently false...they only didn't in that one case because of their hands being tied

ahhh, gotcha. I saw the "basketball" in the url

But seriously, USC's basketball program is dirtier than the football program.

why is that a good move?? what business is it of yours or the ncaa what i spend my money on? if the ncaa is so worried about these players being so starved for a buck, why dont they let them have jobs? their are tons of things the ncaa could do that would make players less susceptible to dirty bookies(which, btw, is an issue whether gambling is legal or not) that dont restrict MY personal freedoms. I dont see the NCAA refusing to let reporters from newspapers that print the lines from coming into games. what possible use could lines have if not betting? the ncaa is a money printing factory, the players are basically working for free.
