I was looking to purchase a large screen digital display for the office.
Would like to get 2 displays at least 50" in size.
My budget would be between 4,000 and 5,000 for both.
It looks like NEC dominates the digital display game right now but they are fairly pricey.
I wanted to know if there is a difference between buying a NEC digital display or just a Samsung/Sony Bravia HDTV.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated along with any explanation on differences between displays and HDTVs.
Also what specs would be best to look at when purchasing(i.e Contrast Ratio and Refresh rate(120hz/240)
The display would be hooked up to a computer.

samsung 520dx would be my choice.
$5k is a bit ridiculous.
and yes, there is usually a difference... consumer LCDs weren't designed to be on 24/7. the commercial lines usually have longer warranties as well.
the contrast ratios that are advertised are pretty much useless and are just marketing hype. you can tweak those tests to make the numbers say whatever you want.
refresh rate is only important if you plan on having very fast moving graphics (think like action movie shit). or (sometimes) very strange cadences in your source material] 8/17/2009 12:22:19 PM |
