Everytime I've been over to that apartment complex there has always been some sort of drug bust, gunfire or dead hookers for the police to clean up. Lake park isn't much better either.

Shit, I wish the cops were here that much.

Lake Park at least has its owned armed security force that patrols around. We JUST got "Neighborhood Watch/Private Property" signs and security cameras put in over the summer. A few days after they were first put in, the Private Property sign got stolen and the camera on my building got fucked with. Since then, the camera was reinstalled up near the second floor, and the sign was replaced.

I just remember when I went looking for apartments 2 years ago I asked about how bad the crime was around lake park and the dude who was showing the apartment to me (Who was black himself) just said "Well you know.. there are monkey thugs everywhere." and I couldn't help but bust out laughing at that. I crossed that place off the list shortly thereafter and ended up getting a house on Kaplan.

Lived there 99 to 01, I remember these frequent bouts of gunfire.

Oddly, I now live in Durham, and have heard zero gunfire since moving here.

Believe it or not, those little housing projects behind Wendys are much nicer now than they were 5-10 years ago. I'm sure richthofen can attest to that if he lived there in that era.
