Paul, though no John Lennon was essential. Ringo probably could have been swapped and you'd have had basically the same band, but he did a good job.

Actually, they didn't write their songs together. And George Harrison wrote quite a bit as well. They didn't even record Abbey Road together in the same studio.

ok, you look up the song info and see whos credited for most of their music, Lennon/McCartney for most of them, they may have worked on some of them at different times, but they both played a part in most of the songwriting

I know they both put their names on it. But there's pretty much no chance that they both worked on all or even most of the songs, especially later in the band's life.

"Who wrote which Beatles song?

Because of the way the publishing deal was set up between John and Paul, "Lennon-McCartney" was credited for a lot of songs that John or Paul actually composed alone. The general rule of thumb is that the Beatle who sang the song is the one who wrote it (except for Ringo, of course). It all gets a bit confusing after a while, but my Beatles song pages list the data for some of the confusing ones.

They both wrote an equal share of good music in my opinion and they sing together in many songs and my whole point is that

been covered, but no they didnt. the lennon/mcartney song credit thing is something they agreed to do early in their career. they usually wrote their songs seperately and then brought them to the band. especially late in their career when they barely talked to each other as is.

it appears it is YOU who knopws nothing

This is a huge issue with the beatles for me. I mean i know they didn't have 64 track mixers, pro-tools and quad core 6ghz machines to record on, but compare their tone to zappa's in the mid to late 60s. I just don't get it.

Zappa (and his whole band) were gearheads. The Beatles just plugged Rics into AC30s and rolled.

I've heard plenty of shitty-sounding AC30s, especially from that era. They sound phenomenal if they're well-watched, but there's so much that can go wrong, and that's before they catch fire the first time.
