Some pets are just too nervous or are fear biters and being in the home environment can be good for them. But not all mobile vets can offer the same services an actual clinic can ranging from your basic exam, to more extensive services like an x-rays or surgery. A physical location is also nice in that if my pet gets sick or hurt and I need to rush him over to the vet clinic, I know where am going, and not depending on a mobile vet to be available. Also I think most people in this geographic region depend on cars unless they can't afford one, and I'm not sure they could afford a mobile vet over a regular vet in that case.

My experience with about 5 different mobile vets I've interacted with through my job is that they all work on a leave us a message and we'll call you back basis, I don't know if that is true for the company you're advertising, but I've always found it a bit detracting, especially if you want to talk to someone right away about an issue that is concerning, but not serious enough to warrant rushing to an emergency hospital for pets. Mobile vet's certainly have their place in the pet health care world, but I don't think I'd ever use them as my first option.


For pet insurance, most people I've met that have it use ASCPA's insurance, and VPI's insurance. My general sense is that of the two, people seem more satisfied with VPI's insurance. I've known dog & cat breeders to use pet insurance, as well as people who just have a lot of pets, and most people are usually happy that they have it. They key is getting it before a pet gets sick. The problem is most people don't start researching pet insurance until after their pets are sick or have some other chronic issue. Some people have waited until their pet was about 7 to 10 years old and then got the insurance and lucked up in having a healthy pet and not needing it before then, but then having it in place as the pet starts to get older and issues start popping up. But it really is a guess game to use pet insurance effectively in my experience.

Rather than focus on a public option that will increase taxes, I think we need to look at tort reform here. How many frivolous lawsuits are there due to vet malpractice? If we could get those under control I think we could save enough to completely reform this whole mess.

This suzyQ character sounds like just another dummycrat that wants to feed of those people who think that services should just be provided to them and their pets. It's sickening to see that so many people have taken up this entitlement mentality and expect everyone else to just stop what they're doing and come to THEIR house, while the rest of blue collar America has to take initiative to take their pets to the vet hospital.
